I am looking at purchasing T3 either from the UK or abroad due to it not being available from Uk doctors unless you have a written letter from the Queen š. Could you please assist with either options please and relevant web sites or contact numbers. Been trying through my doctor for the last 10 years but just keep getting palmed off. Going to take it into my own hands now and purchase my own T3 and have the dosage monitored by a local professional. Please help as I am starting from scratch.

Before even considering adding T3 itās essential to get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing
We need OPTIMAL vitamin levels for levothyroxine and T3 to work
Itās important to see exactly where Ft4 level is to see if you need to reduce levothyroxine dose slightly BEFORE adding T3
Obviously essential to know Ft3 result too BEFORE starting
Have you got recent results you can add
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies
You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or half of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or thyroid antibodies or all relevant vitamins

Thank you very much for all of your information. I do have Hashimotoās and have regular bloods so have full up to date blood work. Currently on 200 mcgs of Levo as well as Cox 2 inhibitors due to mechanical joint probs! This isnāt something Iām taking on lightly. I have spoken to my GP several times re T3, their answer is always to increase my levo as Iām not where I ācouldā be! After almost 11 years of levo not touching the sides and living a half life I have decided to do my own research and plan ahead so Iām forearmed when the time comes to re-visit my GP. I appreciate all of your info, as with most Hashis patients we could all write a book! Nevertheless, information from other people with similar experiences is always appreciated. I am a phlebotomist so am well aware of my reference ranges and where Iād like to be....letās hope I can gather enough info from forums Like this to make a Lyn informed decision. Thanks again x
Thanks for your reply, i am just trying to gather info at the moment for when lives return to some kind of normality so Iām forearmed when I can get to see my GP. Thanks again x

It's not possible to obtain T3 in the UK without a prescription.
Sourcing T3 from overseas isn't easy at the moment, and if you do find a source then delivery will most certainly be delayed due to the pandemic causing worldwide postal disruption.
As we can't discuss sources of supply on the forum, I will turn off replies to your post and any information can be sent in a private message.
However, members are more likely to share their source when full thyroid/vitamin results are posted. None of us want to be responsible for encouraging someone to take T3 when it's not needed which is why we are cautious and suggest full testing first. SlowDragon has given excellent advice and Medichecks Thyroid Check ULTRAVIT is the best value test at the moment, 25% off with code SPRING25 if you order before midnight on 3rd May.
