Hi

If you are given prescription for eg T3 or NDT prescribed by a senior endocrinologist can you have it dispensed locally please?

- are they able to locate it , wherever you may live in UK? Or do you need to shop around for a pharmacy?

Haven’t yet got the prescription just getting ahead of myself 🤞 private referral

Thanks 🌸

Jeppy, If it's private prescription, shop around for the best price! You can try your local pharmacies. There's also a list of UK pharmacies on the Thyroid UK website here thyroiduk.org/if-you-are-hy...

Jeppy, because of various food intolerances I had to be very specific when I was prescribed T3. I used the list produced by thyroid Uk and my scrip is sent to a Pharmacy down south and my medication comes in the post. Doesn't cost me anything!

Jeppy, helvella has produced a list of all thyroid meds that lists all their ingredients. All prescription meds should have a PIL, patient information leaflet, usually in very small type, which should list all the ingredients in the meds. We often refer to them as fillers. I cannot tolerate acacia powder which is a filler in TEVA levothyroxine. Some folks cannot tolerate mannitol. etc.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

From Google Drive:

If its a nhs script you can send it to any pharmacist in the uk that stocks ndt. On the nhs you can have Armour or Erfa. Boots is able to source it for you through their specials department that most boots pharmacy can ring to order. I use Chroists4U and have my scripts sent there electronically but you can post them there too. They dont charge delivery.

If its a private script then look on Thyroid uk they list the different sources plus contact details. Its a good idea to phone first before sending your script off. Some charge postage others dont.

No problem check if you use Boots as they may not be familiar that they have a specials department. May take them a bit longer to order in to their local pharmacy. And sorry for the typo its: Chemists4u. Lloyds Pharmacy may also do it.
