B12 injections

Hi I’ve just been denied my next B12 injection because of Covid 19 but not offered an alternative as they feel people keep getting injections who don’t need it so I’ve to have a blood test in 6 months. I have Hasmimotis and other auto immune issues so , have also had issues absorbing vit D and floated but they don’t seem to acknowledge I was on b12 in the first place due to absorption issues and connection with thyroid issues - any advice ?

There are at least dozens of posts over on the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum about this subject - refusal of B12 injections.

Although you do mention the context of Hashimoto's, I strongly recommend you go over there and read what is being said.

Thanks but the fact I didn’t have PA 2 years ago when tested was used as a reason why I didn’t need the injections today

But how do they know you don’t have PA? The founder of the Pernicious Anaemia Society had loads of tests which proved negative - until he finally got a positive result. Testing is not conclusive.

“The test for Pernicious Anaemia, the Intrinsic Factor Antibody Test, is only around 50% accurate. This means that may patients are told that their B12 deficiency is not caused by Pernicious Anaemia because they tested negative for the Intrinsic Factor Antibody whereas, in reality, the cause will be Pernicious Anaemia.”
