Help with blood test results (possible hypothyroid) much appreciated!

Hi everyone,

First of all I’m really grateful to have found such a supportive and knowledgeable online community! Hope you are all staying safe during the pandemic.

I’ve been having a read of others’ stories on here and I think I might be hypothyroid? Or maybe I just need to increase my level of vitamin B12??

I have a lot of symptoms of hypothyroidism, including feeling very tired and weak and generally just awful.

Results:

07/04/2020

Morning Cortisol – 136 (60- 184) (blood test 9am)

TSH- 2.28 (0.27- 4.20)

FT4- 10.0 (9.3-17.0)

TPO- <9 (<34)

Anti-receptor TSH <1.1 (<1.8)

Vitamin D2+3- 55 (30-80)

TIBC- 2.45 (2.50- 4.50)

Ferritin- 65 (15- 150)

B12- 357 (145- 569)

Folic acid 24.4 (10.9 – 84.5)

As not all the thyroid tests were done this time I’m including a test from last year in case it helps:

01/08/2019

TSH- 2.21 (0.27- 4.20)

FT3- 2.7 (2.0- 4.4)

RT3- 0.3 (0.09- 0.35)

FT4- 10.4 (9.3- 17.0)

TPO <9 (<34)

Vitamin D2+3- 50 (30-80)

If it is relevant, I recently obtained a copy of the blood tests which partly diagnosed my coeliac disease in 2015 and my TSH then was 2.55 (no other thyroid tests were done).

Welcome to the forum.

Well your TSH isn't bad for someone on no medication, such that it is likely to be tricky to get a doctor to prescribe anything, but your T4 is pretty low - and your T3 wasn't great when you had it tested before.

SeasideSusie is excellent on nutrients and will hopefully be along in a minute - optimising them will always be helpful.
