I’m not sure what to do. My cousin and I were patients with dr skinner many years ago. Then he passed which was so sad as he was an amazing man. My cousin was in touch with his practice in Birmingham and we then self medicated and my cousin got them from somewhere abroad. She never told me where she got them and now my lovely cousin has passed. I don’t know what to do about getting thyroxine. Can anyone help me please Many thanks

Dr skinner
Have you been to your Doctor and explained that you have been taking Levothyroxine and how it is helping you to feel well. Also you could get your Doctor to do a thyroid function blood test to see what your levels are. Dr Skinner persuaded my GP to prescribe Levothyroxine for me and I also had a card which meant I did not have to pay for my prescription.
No as I’m on a high dose and they wouldn’t agree to it. Also when I was tested years ago my test came back negative but dr skinners said that is wrong
Have you got any recent blood tests to share with us? We need TSH, T4 and T3. Also any vitamin levels you might have like B12, Iron and Ferritin, Vitamin D and Folate. The reason I ask this is because your vitamin levels need to be optimal for the Levothyroxine to work. There are people on here who do know where to purchase Levothyroxine but I think knowing some more information would help us to advise you etc.
No my cousin and I didn’t have tests. If I go to the doctor they will start asking questions. How can I get it done privately?

Think you forgot the link, Marz!
Doctors can ask questions but you don't have to answer them if you don't want to they can also advise us but it is our own choice whether we take their medical advice. A lot of people seem frightened of what Doctors can actually do. I have actually told my GP that I was self medicating and he didn't comment because he knew his hands were tied because of NHS guidelines and he had already told me he couldn't prescribe me any Levothyroxine.

Many of us use medichecks , on special today. Do finger prick sample or pay extra for nurse to take sample. Would be a VERY good idea to get this done in my humble opinion😁
