Which type of magnesium

Hi, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid earlier this year. I am post menopausal. Im not sleeping great but a little better than when i first started taking the levothyroxine. I now take 75mgs. I've always suffered from leg cramps every now and then but since starting the medication I get cramping much more frequently.

Can anyone recommend which type of magnesium I can take for sleep and cramps? There are so many different additional mixes and brands i havent a clue where to start!

Thank you!

You need to take the form that suits your particular needs. Check out these links and see which is most suitable for you:

If it's purely for leg cramps and nothing else, the following might be useful. If I get a cramp in my foot or leg during the night I use one of the following:

Mag Phos Tissue salts amazon.co.uk/New-Era-Number...

or I rub in Magnesium Gel betteryou.com/magnesium-gel

I love this particular kind by VitaMonk. I had tried different single forms of magnesium with little to no results but have def seen a difference after starting this one. I’m very sensitive to fillers and like that this only has rice flour in a veggie capsule. I take two capsules daily around 4 pm. I’m not affiliated with this brand. Just a happy customer.

Quad MagnesiumTM Supplement Blend by VitaMonk - High Absorption Magnesium Complex for Sleep, Stress Relief, Heart, Anxiety and Mood with Glycinate Chelate, Orotate, Taurate and Di-Magnesium Malate amazon.com/dp/B07K773QHV/re...

From the manufacturer:

“Supplementing magnesium used to be difficult. There are are a number of forms and each one plays a different yet critical function in your body. Some regulate sleep or cognitive function while others are responsible for a healthy cardiovascular system.

Now, we’ve created one ultimate magnesium supplement that could make your issues with sleep, brain function, or stress a thing of the past. It’s specifically formulated with the optimal levels of each of the most potent and bioavailable forms of magnesium in existence. So you get all of the magnesium you need for deeply refreshing sleep, energy during the day, a stable mood, and enhanced brain function in one capsule.

If you’ve tried supplementing before and didn’t see results, it’s probably because you weren’t taking the right form for your issues. Now you can take magnesium with confidence knowing you’re getting exactly what your body is craving for its most vital functions.

What are the Best Magnesium Supplements?

There are a number of different forms of magnesium. That makes supplementation difficult. You have to carefully select the supplement that works best for issues and take the optimal dose.

Here are the best magnesium supplements:

Magnesium Glycinate: This is one of the most bioavailable forms of magnesium, meaning it’s one of the best absorbed magnesium supplements. The glycine inside contains powerful relaxation benefits.

Magnesium Taurinate: Taurine plays a key role in the metabolism of calcium and supports a healthy cardiovascular system.

Magnesium Orotate: Has shown to improve the synthesis of glycogen in cells and has shown to to aid in the replacement of Mg after depletion.

Magnesium Malate: Malic acid is key for energy production and has even demonstrated pain relief properties in the lab.

Your body is a complex organism made of dozens of interconnected systems. If you don’t take a holistic approach and support each function, you won’t see results. That’s the reason that so many who try supplementation don’t see results and give up.

Quad-Magnesium™: The Only Magnesium Supplement You Need

Through painstaking research and formulation, our team of doctors has created a supplement complete with the optimal forms of each of these potent forms of magnesium. Instead of taking several different supplements and guessing how much you need, you can now take one complete supplement that’s been optimized for you.

When you take it, you are getting the only supplement on the market specially formulated to regulate sleep, mood, cognitive function, and heart health all in one dose.

When combined with other healthy habits such as exercise, relaxation, and healthy diet, it can help make your sleep, mood, and brain function problems a thing of the past.”

In addition to the quad Magnesium, on nights when my legs are twitchy (only happens about 1-2 times monthly), I will take Mag Phos 6X by Bestmade. It’s seems to quiet things down and allows me to sleep.

Mag Phos 6X- Natural Remedy Prepared to Clinical Standards amazon.com/dp/B013OF1TCA/re...

From the manufacturer:

“Most commonly used for stabbing nerve pain and muscle spasms and twitching. Can also help with spasms of hiccups or even menstrual cramps. Great antispasmodic, muscular neuralgia, colic, headache, toothache & dysmenorrhoea & more.”

My husband swears by the Mag Phos 6X as he has restless legs almost every night. The Mag Phos 6X gives him relief and allows him to sleep.
