Oops, typo error! Getting blurry eyed, it's late and bed time, hence really shouldn't be on an electronic gadget but intrigued in finding specifics when it comes to magnesium.

Not specifically for hypothyroidism. Look at what the different types are suggested for then decide which is most suitable for you.

Many Hypos suffer from constipation so use magnesium citrate but don't use that if your bowels are fine as it has a laxative effect.

Thanks for that info!

I have been taking this one for a couple of years, and find that it works well.

That's potassium, not magnesium. Be careful not to over-dose on potassium, it can affect your heart.

Sorry, wrong link. It is the Linden's magnesium that I am taking, not Potasium,

I mix mine! I take Malate at lunch as it gives you energy and Glycinate at night as it helps you to sleep better and if a bit constipated add in citrate at lunch.

May I ask which Malate you take please?

Nutri Advanced - may be from Amazon. There is a code to get things from Amazon where a percentage goes to Thyroid Uk who run this forum. Ur you look at their sire you will find loads of info including the code. It helps them survive and continue helping all thyroid sufferers.

I'm now as much in the dark as you and can't find it but the Amazon site has other companies that do it but I've no idea what they are like and nothing on the Nutri site though it does have a free phone number so may be best to ring them. I seem to remember I've rung them in the past and they were very helpful but can't remember why butvi thing I've only ever used their Malate and Glycinate and it must have been recommended to me but been taking both for many years now.

Thanks! Wish everything wasn't trial and error it gets rather laborious. Pity one type fits all was the answer :)

My functional practitioner prescribed MAG365 for me.

What's that and is it pricey?

I am using Magnesium Oxide, basically the Holland and Barratt brand 250mg.

Magnesium Oxide is the least absorbable of all the magnesiums, and H&B own brand really are naff supplements and best avoided as they tend to contain cheap and least absorbable forms of ingredients and loads of unnecessary fillers (likewise most high street and supermarket own brands).

in reply toSeasideSusie

Oh dear that's not good. Looks like I'm going to have to purchase yet another supplement. This condition is emptying my piggybank :/

I use Magnesium citrate (IBS-C) magnesium gluconate (highly absorbable) and Magnesium Cheleated (doesn't absorb well) I can't recall this info. These are the only 3 I have come across in U.S.

Thank you, I have read what each type is supposed to help with and I've ordered the type which I think best suits me.... Pretty much trial and error as always.
