Thank you all so much!

Following on from my previous posts where I had severe reservations that my “specialist” wanted to increase my carbimazole from 10mg to 40mg in an attempt to “hammer” my thyroid and make it do “something” one way or another or .......remove it completely!! (Drastic!)

I posted my results to which you all gave me very helpful information and questions to ask which I did!

I just had my most recent appointment and they are reducing my carbimazole!! My results have improved! They are now talking of reducing to 5mg a day, have bloods in 5 weeks then potentially taking me off it altogether! What a complete turnaround from removal! Or “hammering” it!

So thank you again for all of the advice. Google although informative doesn’t give the answers necessarily that patients actually going through these things can advise on!

Current results; TSH 0.83, Free T4 12.7

Previous results (August) TSH 0.22, Free T4 13.8

(Although I still don’t know what these mean!)

Hopefully it continues to go in the right direction and this isn’t an elaborate plan of theirs to make me unwell again to convince me to have it out after all! (Yes this is how mistrusting I’ve become!)

Oh Kelz21 - Do what you can to avoid having your thyroid removed. Sort of analogy to having a leg amputated....you get a replacement but i is never the same as what you've lost.

Try everything first.

Stay strong and best wishes j xx
