Hi,

Just want to say thank you to you all for being so kind and supportive to me. It has kept me going!

I didn`t have to ring the GP for results of second blood test as instructed, he rang me! Results were around the same as first lot. THS 12 and FT4 11 ( first lot was THS 14.3 and FT4 10.4 and GP had me wait a month before starting treatment, and have another blood test )

Gp also said this time a test was done for thyroid antibodies which tested positive. He said to pick up prescription asap and start treatment! ( hurray ) I am on 50 mcg a day. I`m to have another blood test in 6 weeks.

Thanks again from the bottom of my heart. ( soppy but true! )

Janet.

Great news - and so glad this site helped. Don't forget to start asking, and keeping, copies of all your blood results so that you can check yourself how you are progressing. Also if any further problems occur (touch wood there wont be) you will have your results at hand to be able to post on here for more advise.

Great News - in six weeks levo should be raised again. You should aim to have a TSH 1 or below. Some GP think it is fine to keep you 'within range' - wrong.

Now that hurdle is out of the way!

I suggest you ask to be tested for vitamin B12, folates, iron/ferritin and vitamin D. We all too often see them low in people who are hypothyroid. Their staying low can prevent the best results from your increased thyroid hormone levels.

Thanks Rod.

Great news Janet and I hope things are improved for you now.

I was given 50mcg of T4 with a TSH of around 19. TSH dropped to around 3 a month later and has dropped again since as I feel so well now. You may find 50mcg is enough - we all respond so differently.

When I first had levo I found it took my body a while to get used to having T4 in my body again, but I can now say I feel like the old me again!.

Good luck!
