Is anyone on here on HRT along with taking Levothyroxine ? I’ve just read an article about oestrogen and how supplementing with it via HRT can cause more harm than good. If you have Hashimotos apparently our liver can’t get rid of oestrogen so it is secreted into our skin and organs and can cause damage. Apparently we are supposed to take Progesterone to combat this effect. Does anyone have any experience of this ? What did you do when you reached menopause ?

Menopause HRT on levothyroxine ? Can anyone share experiences and contra indications ?
not heard that one. only that you may need to increase levo when on hrt
I take bioidentical HRT, but not levo - I'm on T3. I've been much healthier since my hormones were in balance. But most women need progesterone and oestrogen and testosterone in the right amounts for them as individuals. Anyone who tells you that progesterone is only necessary if you have a womb (or for clearing oestrogen) or testosterone is for men only is not knowledgeable abut hormones and should not be consulted.
I have just reached late menopause at 61. I'm on levo and natural progesterone. I refused estrogen. I was refused progesterone by NHS because they only give it with estrogen! I told them no way and bought my own. Don't take any progestin ( chemical progesterone) with estrogen it is very risky for breast cancer. Natural progesterone helps your thyroid and your cortisol. Eating raw carrots is supposed to help your liver clear estrogen.
Hi there , may I ask what progesterone are you on. I have just stopped hrt after 4 years I'm 54. I'm on t3. I was on sandrena transdermal gel and micronised progesterone. It was always a push pull unbalanced existence on hrt , with the estrogen affecting my T3 and the days I was on progesterone it utilised my T3 and had me feeling overmedicated. I'm done. Glad to be off of hrt coping without it.
Hi I have used supplement spot progesterone gel for 2 years now. It can be found on the internet or eBay. My doctor tried me with utrogestan but it was much too strong for me post menopause. So I'm back to using the gel daily but low dose. I have a few days break now and again but my body doesn't like being without it as my cortisol was low.
