Just had labs drawn - have been slowly increasing my dose of NDT the last few months after a HYPER swing back in May that caused me to reduce dose for awhile. I am not feeling good even with “normal” labs. Very puffy, depressed, flat, hanging onto weight etc. Here are my results - taken 12 hours after Armour 45 mg. Timed based on Dr. Isabella Wentz book.
TSH. 2.730 range 0.450-4.500
Free T4 0.86 range 0.82-1.77
Free T3 2.9 range 2.0-4.4
This is the lowest dose I’ve ever been on since being diagnosed with Hashi’s 20+ yrs. ago. And my TSH is almost always suppressed so these labs are unusual for me. Thoughts? And thank you.

This is a link from one of Thyroiduk's advisers (now deceased). He invented his own NDT so it wouldn't need a prescription and his widow now deals with this side. Dr Lowe would never prescribe levo, only NDT or T3 for thyroid hormone resistant patients. He invented his NDT so it didn't need a prescription. The advice in the link may be helpful and read 'Safely Getting Well on Thyroid Hormones.'
Thanks shaws....I will check into it. I’ve never understood why most NDT has a higher amount of T3 relative to T4 when compared to how our bodies produce it under normal circumstances so I occasionally think about trying something new. I also feel like I have not felt as well on Armour since it was reformulated many years ago.
Before 1892 hypothyroid patients died. Then when NDT was first introduced in 1892, from then on lives were saved. It seems more conducive to the human body than synthetic, although millions seem to do fine on levo.
Quite a number complained about Armour's reformulation. If we'd been using it for sometime, we probably wouldn't realise initially that it was Armour that was causing symptoms.
Yes, it smelled horrible back in the good old days! I’ve been researching other NDT options but inconsistent batches, changes in fillers etc seem to be across the board. I may look into glandular supplements but they come with their own dose of issues. Ugh.
