After stopping carbi 10 weeks ago. Tsh 0.23 range 0.5 - 5.5. Ft3 4.9 range 2.7-6.1 ft4 13.8 range 11.0-22.0.
When on carbi for 3 months my levels were tsh 1.4 ft3 5.1. ft4 very low at 9.2. (That's when I stopped taking it.)
Before taking carbi - tsh 0.008. ft3 7.0. ft4 19.4. 10 mg carbi a day was prescribed.
I've been placed on the waiting list for thyroidectomy. Apparently my thyroid is a problematic one and they (endo.gp) are unable to figure out why it is behaving this way.

Have you had antibodies tested. I would be concerned that they were treating you for graves disease when you were in fact hashimotos with a flare up. Hahis might explain fluctuations.
Yes. No antibodies. But I believe from research that antibodies Dont show if in a nodule (with hashis) and I've got nodules. I've not been diagnosed with graves or hashi. I'm being treated without definate cause of flare-ups a bit like groping in the dark really.
I am not knowledgeable about hashis or autoimmune thyroiditis as it can be called but I have a few basics. It is an autoimmune disease where antibodies attack the thyroid slowly destroying it. It is not a stable scenario. At times the body produces a lot of antibodies which attack the thyroid causing it to dump more T4 than normal into your system. This is a flare up. Blood results look as if you are hyper. Then things quieten down and the thyroid reduces its output of t4 and you become hypo again. You wouldn't want to be on carbimazole with Hashis as it could make you very hypo when the flare up stopped.
Graves disease is different and the antibodies are different. With Graves the thyroid is permanently putting out too much T4 and the treatment for that is carbimazole.
I dont have graves and i dont want thyroidectomy. I feel perfectly well at the moment. Felt like crap with a low ft4 on carbi. Initially I felt perfectly well too. I had physical symptoms however. I'm referred for surgery (which will take up to a year or more on public waiting list here.) I also have bullying doctor. with an "I know more than you" attitude. Which is bull crap in my opinion.
