Stomach pain & bowel problems.

I have been on 100mcg of Thyroxin for years now. Having had an underactive Thyroid for over 30 years. And in the last two years, off and on, I get intermittent stomach pains. Also after having my first cuppa in the morning with my Thyroxin find that I immediately have to used the loo which is always loose....is this a symptom of Thyroid or could it be more sinister. Any advide would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

You need to take the thyroxine an hour her your tea. Not at same time. Only water in the hour in between

Is the toilet issue something new?

Have you had a change of brand of Levo or always the same brand?

Do you have your latest test results, can you please post them with their reference ranges.

Ideally we need to see:

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

and if you have any vitamin test results that would be good:

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Always advised is to take your Levo on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, with a glass of water only, no tea, coffee, milk, etc, and water only for an hour either side, as absorption will be affected. Take any other medication and supplements 2 hours away from Levo, some need 4 hours.

Thanks for your reply....I don't think my GP'S Surgery do all the tests. But I will try and find out. Having a colonoscopy next Thursday. So it will be sorted one way or the other.

You can always do the full panel of tests with one of our recommended labs if necessary, many of us do that if we can't get them done with the GP. Medichecks and Blue Horizon both do a full thyroid/vitamin panel.
