Propecia hairloss drug lowered my thyroid and cortisol hormones

I have become sick from taking the hairloss drug Propecia. If you know someone who is taking this drug please share my story. Propecia lowers DHT all over the body and not just on the scalp. DHT is the most important hormone to a man. It is found everywhere in a man’s body. After taking Propecia I suffered severe side effects that were not on the drug label and have ruined my life.

My testosterone is now at the level of a 100 year old man, my thyroid and cortisol levels have all fallen and I'm constantly exhausted, I am unable to get an erection and my genitalia has shrunk in size due to the DHT being cut off in my sex organs. A once healthy male I can now only sleep 2 hours a night, I suffer from constant pain and am unable to work. My Doctor tells me I could also get Heart Disease and Osteoporosis because of what’s happened to me. Currently there is no treatment that will make me better.

You can read about the importance of DHT to a man here so you know I am not making these things up.

In a recent court case Merck the drug makers of Propecia have been hiding the real side effects of this drug for the past 20 years in order to make a profit. The US courts have agreed to seal the court documents so the public cannot find out that Merck has been hiding the real side effects.

Propecia also permanently lowers the brains neurosteroids and can leave you with brain damage, severe depression and suicidal ideation. It is this damage to the brain that is believed to have resulted in over 60 recorded suicides, however that number is considered to be in the hundreds. Taking Propecia is no different than playing Russian Roulette, if it hits you bad you will be left wanting to kill yourself. Robin Williams the Hollywood actor began taking Propecia before he committed suicide.

The number of men who could have Post Finasteride Syndrome relating to taking Propecia could be between 100,000 and 1 million. This is potentially a very serious medical problem that is being ignored by the medical community. Propecia is quite possibly the most dangerous drug on the planet right now. If you are taking this drug please be careful and report any symptoms to your GP.

Please share my story on your social media platforms and encourage others to do the same. You do not want any of your loved ones, family or friends to commit suicide from getting Post Finasteride Syndrome.

I am part of a 5,000 group of men who have this devastating condition that is being covered up so that a drug company may profit from the lives of innocent people.

I'm sorry you had a bad reaction to this product.

Thank you for posting and I'm quite sure a lot of people will be (or have used) using this product.

Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry your life has been changed by this drug.

Having looked at the already listed side-effects in the Patient info Leaflet, doesn’t sound like something that should be touched with a barge pole! Although I feel that way about most if not all pharmaceuticals when I read the leaflet! And the leaflet only includes the effects they are admitting to as possibilities.

I also don’t think 1 person in 100 is an ‘uncommon’ side effect as this leaflet suggests.

Thank you for your kind words.

"I also don’t think 1 person in 100 is an ‘uncommon’ side effect as this leaflet suggests." The number of people in their covered up study who got side effects was alot more than 1 in a 100. There executive admitted in court that they lied to protect sales.

I'm so sorry you have been unnecessarily damaged like this...pharma companies seem to have no morals in their relentless pursuit of profit. Russian roulette is definitely the name of the game.

Thank you for sharing this, jc72 , I will also spread the word to limit any potential damage to others. The tragedy of this is that even when you discover there's a problem, discontinuing increases and compounds the issues. I hope you somehow manage to find a way through it and improve.

Hi jc

As a fellow PFS sufferer for 3.5 yes (see my profile on this forum for ~3y), there is hope with a number of recoveries. I'm not there yet myself but much better thanks largely to following a protocol on Swolesource for PFS (best to Google it and get round warning).

I agree with all you said and failed with a compensation claim against GP. Send me a PM if I can help.

userotc , I'm sorry to hear that you have also been affected by this, and that your compensation claim failed. It's incredible what they can get away with. So Merck strikes yet again. I am pleased you have found some improvements, and I'm sure this will at least offer hope and support to jc72. What a dreadful state of affairs...my sympathies to you both😔

Thanks for your kind words. It likely to be way after our lifetime when people fully stop trusting the medical profession and turn to natural healthcare professionals instead. It should be sooner but Big Pharma and other financial beneficiaries (including GPs) wont allow it. But, for the sake of our children, grandchildren etc, we should start now.

Yes, my thoughts exactly....they are all powerful, and one can't help but wonder when and where it will all end, and where the line will finally be drawn...

[I've erased the rest of this, as I'd hate to be responsible for this very important and informative post to be closed]....as I say, all powerful.

Best wishes and good luck with regaining your health.

Do you think regaine has any similar problems ?

Anecdotal evidence on the PFS Forum I use indicates it does althought its mechanism (blood flow) suggests not.

We completed the Yellow Card about 3 years ago. No reply, dont expect any effect!

userotc profile image
userotc

No I don't really expect a reply. But I'd be interested to know how many yellow cards before anything practical is done ( not just adding to a file "collecting dust"). It would be good if they followed football with 2 yellows meaning dismissal but somehow I think it may need just a few more!

Excuse the cynicism.
