Raised antibodies

I am diagnosed coeliac and am thinking I may have a thyroid issue as well. Past bloods show normal levels of TSH, free T3 and Thyroxine but thyroid antibodies elevated at 565 ( normal below 115 ). I have lots of symptoms of thyroid problems including weight gain / unable to loose weight, persistent tiredness, dry skin, feel the cold, prone to constipation, low mood and headaches. My vitamin D level was also borderline low at 60 ( normal 50-175 ) despite the fact I take alfacalcidol for my coeliac. I also have a goitre. My mum, sister, grandfather and aunt all are hypothyroid. Hashimoto’s has been mentioned to me. I’m going to see my gp next week to discuss this and ask for repeat blood tests. Any advice ? Does it sound like a thyroid issue ?

How long have you been diagnosed as coeliac?

TPO antibodies do sometimes slowly lower once on strictly gluten free diet

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning, before eating or drinking anything other than water. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's.

So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

I’ve been coeliac since 2004 The TG antibodies have risen. They were 503 Sept 2018 and 565 in May 2019. My TSH, FT4 and FT3 and TP antibodies were all normal. My folate, B12 and ferritin were normal and Vit D borderline low at 60. These tests were all with medichecks
