Well DippyDame I had my appointment this morning - I had sent a letter ahead with a proper print-out (screen-shot) of the Medichecks results showing raised TSH, and lower FT4 and FT3. She did mention the lower FT3 but still said she cannot go against what the endo had said - no treatment. I pointed out (quite nicely) that my 'other doctor' - her and the other one are part-timers - had started someone I know on thyroid meds for underactive thyroid at a lower TSH than mine, but of course I don't know this other person's history. She still wants me to see the gastro, see the Tired All the Time Clinic and recommends when I see the private endo I write him a letter ahead with dates as I have exacting records going back to 2005. I will have to go with the flow, but annoying as my arms really hurt and last night I woke up with both arm muscles kind of locked and it really hurt to move my arms. I now also have some puffiness below my lip and to the side of my mouth which might be related. I have had raised creatine kinase on several blood tests over time and have just read this can be related to hypothyroidism. I want to get my points over to this private endo but don't want to alienate him before I even see him.

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
Or tried it?
I just had a D test at the gp and was disappointed and surprised to see my D had dropped to 114 from 178 2 years ago and 236 in June 16 so it is dropping again (15 on diagnosis) though I know I have had a lot of days this year where I didn't take my D, K2 and mag - holidays, days out etc but that is only this year, so I don't know why it dropped over the past whole 2 years from 178. Not had folate recently or ferritin - well, last one was end of last year I think. Not had ultrasound scan. No, not on gluten free, or even tried it, sounds too hard to manage. Strangely, when I clicked your link I notice soupybp has the same symptoms as me. I can't take large pills in the evening as they feel stuck. I have had a choking feeling since Dec 16 and in Oct 18 my record says 'choked on own saliva again'. This turned into irritated/strong tingling throat that I have to cough to clear - I am obliged to. Recently had a big choking fit when I went to bed, though I wouldn't be able to breathe. No-one has ever listened properly to symptoms.
Many of us struggle to swallow any large pills with thyroid problems
Important to test BOTH TPO and TG antibodies and have thyroid ultrasound (especially if antibodies appear to be negative)
If you do have Hashimoto's, then frequently gluten free diet helps or is essential. It's a lot easier than you might expect. In part, if it helps reduce symptoms significantly then that's a great incentive to stick on it
I have had TPO and TGab tested, TPO more than once, most recent being Medichecks for both of those.
But have you ever had thyroid ultrasound scan?
