For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus ten will test Thyroid and vitamin levels, not including vitamin D .

DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Looking at previous post.....vitamin D is nmol?

Even NHS guidelines say your GP should prescribe 1600iu daily for 6 months

Local CCG guidelines

clinox.info/clinical-suppor...

GP will only prescribe to bring vitamin D up to 50nmol. Aiming to improve by self supplementing to at least 80nmol and around 100nmol may be better .

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Retesting twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function.

It's trial and error what dose each person needs. Frequently if you have Hashimoto's will need higher dose than average

VitD 42.0 saying normal.

Information about this was posted yesterday in reply to this thread

T4 19.6 range 11-22.6 pmol/l say I g normal

TSH 0.14 range 0.2-4.0 mu/l saying abnormal

Your TSH says abnormal because it's below range. However, TSH is useful for diagnosis of a thyroid condition but once on Levo it's not particularly relevant, it's the FT4 and FT3 results that are important because they are the thyroid hormones (TSH is a signal from the pituitary to make thyroid hormone if it detects there isn't enough, your hormone level is good - FT4 - so there's no need for the pituitary to send the signal).

Your FT4 is 74% through it's range which is a pretty good place to be.

It's FT3 that is important and tells us if we are overmedicated but it's rarely done at primary level. If your GP wants to reduce your dose of Levo and you feel OK, refuse a reduction unless FT3 is tested.

You will need to discuss your abnormal platelet result with your GP.

I meant to ask when you wrote before, did you not take your Levo with you to work on Monday, to take after the blood draw ie you went without your dose that day? So when you had Thursday's draw without your Levo that morning, you would have been slightly down on what you otherwise would have been, had you had your med on Monday. How much this affected your FT4 result I don't know, but when I did that deliberately a couple of weeks ago, my result was definitely lower than normal; so it might be that your result is likewise not quite a true reflection of what it otherwise would have been.

Are you not taking Vit K2 mk7, the other important co-factor of Vit D? Regarding forgetting taking the magnesium at night, I take my Vit D, Vit K2 and magnesium (I take liquid Mag in my orange juice) all together with breakfast and there's no risk of forgetting then - I've never found it to be calming or sleep-inducing as is often said here

But, you do take your magnesium/vit D four hours away from thyroid hormone, which you take at night, presumably? :)

Bien sûr 🙂

Just thought that little things like that should be pointed out, because you never know… :)

I did not take it to work. So did not take it till the following day. So that would make it 48 hours. And then thurs would have been around 27 28 hours.

Thanks everyone. I take magnesium at bedtime. It's a bit hit and miss It's soluble prefer it to tablets.

Going to GP tomorrow see what he says.

I did not take my levo on the Monday am as forgot to take it to work. So took it on Tues am. Wondering now if I am slightly over medicated, hence palpitations. They have seemed to calm down and what at the moment. Thursday I just took it at 10am when I got home. When I tried 75 one day and 50 another I did not feel good. It's all guess work. Feel so tired and drained today. I have missed a couple of vit D and menopace though.

This is a minefield I just can't seem to retain info. I can never remember if I am over active or under active when people ask. No matter how many times I look it up to remember it won't stay in my head. Why is that. I am forgetful but not to that extent fgs. 75mg levothyroxine, off to Google it again😟😞

Update ** Dr has not reduced my meds. He said as I seem to be ok on them to leave as they are.

Went out yesterday felt a little off. Had a couple of fruit beers, went for a meal after. Got home did not feel too good later on. Went to bed pulse rate going mad between 90 to 112. I am normally 65 to 75. Was still high this Morning. So only to 50 instead of 75. My question am I in her medicated and try taking 50 one day and 75 the next. I have felt great the last 4 wks with no palpitations. Now it's hit me again. So depressing.

Now I did take hrt for a week but did not seem to work apart from making hot flushes bad again so stopped it. That was about 3 wks ago. I honestly thought I was about pop off. Not the first time and won't be the last. I have been on the toilet all morning too. Try I g to work through it as off to Whitby for a few days for our anniversary. Hope I feel better tomorrow.

You're not over-medicated, no. Your FT4 isn't even at the top of the range. But, what you need to know is the level of your FT3. Maybe you aren't converting very well. Palps can be a symptom of under-medication.
