Highly recommend digestive enzymes, Betaine HCI hydrochloride acid, pepsin or any combination. My experience is that you don’t have to take them every day but only when the problem occurs relief comes to me within 20 minutes - no matter how severe.

Please let us know if it works for you. Stick with the T3 you on the right path.

It is common to have acid reflux if you suffer from thyroid problems and your Doctor can help you by prescribing Omeprazole or Ranatidine tablets to be taken last thing at night.

I hope this helps.

It's more common to have low stomach acid which has similar symptoms. Taking Omeprazole is the last thing needed unless confirmed one way or another.

I had no idea that low stomach acid might be to blame! Thank you. Will investigate.

When you write "25 mg in 2 doses" do you actually mean '25 mcg' which would be the correct scale as 'mg' is 1000 times greater than ''mcg'; and do you mean 25 mcg in two halves ie 2 x 12.5 mcg or 2 doses of 25 mcg each time? In any case, when you last wrote 9 days ago, you were still taking T4, so if you've only recently started to take T3 perhaps you need to reduce your dose and start lower in order to adjust more gradually. On a practical note, are you drinking the tablets(s) down with an adequate amount of water?

Also, as has been suggested before, the titles you give your posts aren't particularly helpful and you might have more responses if instead of writing just 'Dr' or 'Mrs' for instance, which is actually misleading, you wrote what your post is about / what your problem is - for instance here, you could edit it to say Problem with reflux when taking T3.

Are you saying that you take a 25 mcg tablet two times a day (for a total of 50 mcg per day)?

Or are you saying that you take a total of 25 mcg, taking half a dose twice a day?

It is much more likely that you have low stomach acid as Seaside Sue has said. There is a very simple test involving baking powder. Mix a teaspoon of baking powder in some water and drink it. If you burp straight away, you have high stomach acid. If you do lots of little burps after half a minute, then you stomach acid is normal. If you hardly burp at all, then you are low in stomach acid.

I find 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in some water an hour before my main evening meal keeps me pretty clear of heartburn all day.

Not what you're looking for?
