Neck examination by dentist?

Hi all,

has anyone else had a neck examination by their dentist?

Yesterday my dentist examined my neck for the first time. He found a lump near the collarbone (soft tissue, not on the bone) and said I should not worry but should get it checked out by my doctor as this is not his speciality.

Not my thyroid but I’d be interested to hear from anybody else who’s had this or might know what it could be. He kept saying it’s probably not cancer which immediately makes you think otherwise 🤔

On the plus side my teeth are all fine 🙂.

Thanks

Mel x

Never, sounds as though your dentist is very thorough. At my last visit I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

It's the first time he's done it so I'm guessing it's new for him too.

Sorry I can't help but I am in a similar situation. I found a lump in my neck near the collar bone. It appears to be on a muscle. I also had a pea sized moveable lump. I had a scan, radiologist picked up a tiny thing which I think was the pea sized lump. I'm getting some pain in the collar bone so went back to see another doctor who sent me for an x-ray; last Friday - I did have a fall last October and she thought the pain in the collar bone was probably due to that. I haven't heard anything from the docs since so I suspect nothing was found, however I'm going to ring today.

If nothing shiwed on the x-ray Ivwill go back eventually if the lump doesn't go. Btw both doctors think it's probably (omg I can't think of the word now, those glandular things that get swollen if you have an infection 😂)

Thanks for your response, I hope everything tuns out ok for you. Lymph nodes I think is what you're trying to remember, my memory is also shot! :)

It is lymph modes, it completely eluded me 😁

Hope everything is ok with you too.

Never come across that, though mine did flag something on the outside of my lip.
