I've just had my 6 monthly check up with my dentist. Lovely, friendly and not at all heavy-handed bloke. Everything OK and nothing needed doing so we had time for a chat.
We got onto the subject of thyroid (as you do) and he surprised me by saying it's obvious that having thyroid issues or inadequate thyroid treatment has a knock-on effect on the rest of the body. He also said that he thinks it's a waste of time just taking things in isolation without looking at the whole picture and that the thyroid needs to be spot on and then lots of other things will fall into place.
Wow!! I think I'll go and see him the next time I'm not well!!
Ironically, it's easier to get an NHS appointment with my dentist than an NHS appointment with my GP.

I hate to say this but just not actually having any responsibility for your thyroid problem, it’s easier for him to speak. It’s the way the NHS is set up. There is always someone else to pass the buck to.
Until of course you find the point at which they ALL speak the same language. Totally incomprehensible to us patients.
How wonderful! I had similar experience with my Dentist just this week....not about thyroid issues but something else and his knowledge was far better than many doctors I've been seeing and he was much easier to talk to...no 'funny' attitude what so ever but proper 'adult' backwards-forwards conversation. I reckon he is really a medical knowledge 'nerd'...it would explain a lot! 😂I WILL not see any other dentist if I can avoid it..he is brilliant!
