I had total thyroidectomy 23 years ago. I have recently been very short of breath so thought I would check my levels. Could the above low t3 cause shortness of breath on exertion. Has this happened to anyone else. I am taking 100 mg one day and 75 the next. Should I increase to 100 per days.
I would appreciate you thoughts

If these were my results I would increase to 100mcg levothyroxine daily. It's not a large amount of thyroid hormone for someone who's had TT. The breathlessness is more likely to be low vitamin or ferritin levels. Ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Also check calcium levels and kidney function. Then post results here for good advice on optimal vitamin levels even if doctor says they are OK, they might not be optimal.
With the FT3 being on the low end, possibly you are not converting the T4 into T3. You might want to discuss w/endo, the use of T3 or desiccated T4/T3.
While true the FT3 is low there is some conversion going on, but, since the FT4 is only 24% through the range, there's not much to convert. Before going through the "Please prescribe T3" hassle, I believe ninja1 should test and optimize nutrients, and also ask for a dose increase of Levothyroxine. Then if the FT3 stays low and hypo symptoms are not relieved, that's the time to look to T3 or NDT.
