Presumably, the B12 is sublingual? If so, you can take it any time, it won't affect levo. But, don't you take a B complex with it? You should, and that should be two hours away from levo.

Iron and vit D should be four hours away from levo. So, if you take your levo in the morning, breakfast might be a bit too soon to take vit D.

Iron should be taken on its own, two hours away from everything else and four hours away from levo.

But, without telling us when you take your levo, it's a bit difficult to map out a program. :)

Thank you so much! What about magnesium and probiotics? I woukd appreciate that piece of information. Thank you in advance.

Magnesium at least four hours away from levo - but longer could be better. Probiotics at least two hours. :)

Thanks again.

Hiya

I took my first ever dose of Levo this morning at 5.30am, I then took my Methyl B Complex at 8am with my Glutagenics - which contain the following

L-Glutamine 2000 mg 50

Zinc (citrate) 5 mg ✝

Quercetin 100 mg ✝

L-alanyl-L-glutamine (Sustamine®) 100 mg ✝

I take Methyl Complex by Nutri which has Folate and the following -

Each capsule typically contains % NRV*

Betaine (trimethylglycine, anhydrous) 500mg ✝

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl) 25mg 1786

Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) 250µg 10000

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxal-5-phosphate) 5mg 357

Folate (5-methyl tetrahydrofolate) 450µg 225

I think if i switch to bedtime dose of Levo it would work better around the supplements. Question is though how long between dinner and supplements (these include a multi, several ones for adrenal fatigue, SIBO etc) should I take my bedtime dose of Levo? I have been taking my supplements with breakfast and again with dinner before i started Levo.

I also take Floradix for Iron which i was taking first thing and 2hrs before dinner which would work well if i take the Levo at bedtime.

Any advice on how i can programme these in would be very helpful as at the mo my brain fog and lack of concentration is making it difficult for me to work out a plan.

Levo at least 2 hours after dinner - three if it's a greasy meal.

It depends what's in the multi and the adrenal supplements. In general, multis are a bad idea.

The Multi is a Nutri Womens Multi

OK, well, here's why you shouldn't be taking it:

* If your multi contains iron, it will block the absorption of all the vitamins - you won't absorb a single one! Iron should be taken at least two hours away from any other supplement except vit C, which is necessary to aid absorption of iron, and protect the stomach.

* If your multi also contains calcium, the iron and calcium will bind together and you won't be able to absorb either of them.

* Multi's often contain things you shouldn't take or don't need : calcium, iodine, copper. These things should be tested before supplementing.

* Multi's often contain the cheapest, least absorbable form of the supplement : magnesium oxide, instead of magnesium citrate or one of the other good forms; cyanocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin; folic acid instead of methylfolate; etc. etc. etc.

* Multi's do not contain enough of anything to help a true deficiency, even if you could absorb them.

* When taking several supplements, you should start them individually at two weekly intervals, not all at once as you would with a multi. Because, if you start them all at once, and something doesn't agree with you, you won't know which one it is and you'll be back to square one.

With a multivitamin, you are just throwing your money down the drain, at best, and doing actual harm at worst. Far better to get tested for vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin, and build up your supplementation program based on the results. :)

Thanks. I will stop the multi and time the iron & Vit D tablets accordingly.

The recommended several adrenal supplements I take consist of -

curcumin

ashwagandha

resveratrol

magnesium

potassium

rhodiola rosea

Co enzyme q10

l-taurine

ALA

DHEA

pantothenic acid

acetyl-l-carnitine

ginseng

DHEA

VitC

bromelain

Melissa

l-theanine

Any with magnesium should be taken four hours away from thyroid hormone.

These supplements contain adaptogens: Ashwagandha, ginseng, rhodiola. Are you trying to raise your cortisol or decrease it? Be aware that they can do either, and not necessarily what you want them to do. I am really not convinced of the efficacy of these so-called 'supports'. Do they really support? Or do they stimulate? What the adrenals want is lots of B vits and vit C and lots of salt. Do the other ingredients really help the adrenals? And, in any case, are they in high enough doses to actually do anything? People often waste their money on this sort of cram-in-as-much-as-you-can-of-any-old-thing type of 'support' tablets.

Yes magnesium in one that I will now take in the mornings as Levo will be taken at bedtime.

The doses seem to be pretty high in all of them. All the supplements are either Nutri or Researched Nutritionals/Supplements.

Endo tested for cortisol and he stated the following -

The salivary cortisol profile showed high level on waking and also late morning. The findings are suggestive of a stress response if not fluctuations in blood glucose. Her fasting glucose is 4.7, TG 0.8, uric acid 238 umo/L, thus although her fasting glucose is normal I think she might benefit from a Keto diet.

I decided not to go on the Keto following lots of research into it and how it is no good for Hashimoto patients also confirmed to me by the Dr Garth Davis on an Instagram post.

Be aware that magnesium taken in the morning can make you sleepy. Did your endo suggest you take these adrenal supports? It doesn't matter who makes them, this sort of thing is usually a huge con, and I have no faith in them, personally. Also, they are usually taken by people with low cortisol, not high.

Oh wow. I’ve spent a lot on them 😔.

The endo suggested them all.

But I’ve gotta admit. I’ve finally been able to sleep soundly since taking them. And the depression went within a week. Just the brain fog and exhaustion remain.

Oh, well, sounds like they're helping then. Good. :)

Levothyroxine should always be taken on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after

Many people take Levothyroxine soon after waking, but it may be more convenient and more effective taken at bedtime

All medication at least two hours away from Levo. Some like HRT, PPI's, magnesium, iron or vitamin D, at least four hours away

verywellhealth.com/best-tim...

If vitamin D is mouth spray it doesn't need to be four hours away from taking Levothyroxine

As greygoose says....if taking B12 its recommended to take good vitamin B complex too, one with folate in not folic acid may be beneficial.

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks ).

Or Jarrow B-right is popular choice, but is large capsule

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
