I’ve posted a couple of times previously, but wanted to wait till I got results of this month before posting again. I’ve combined results from January - June.
A little bit about myself, I didn’t do well at all on Eltroxin or Ndt. New endo tried me on T3 in January as i was very unwell. I’m now taking 40mg T3 in 2 doses.
Symptoms I still have are Tinnitus, which got worse when I started T3. Crying all of a sudden during the day, some days really bad that I’m afraid to go out in case I meet anyone, and burning and pain in feet and calves.
Cortisol was high, but I start therapy with a Craniosacral therapist on Saturday.
As advised on my previous post by Radd I got FSH tested.
Doctors answer to me now is to go on antidepressants.
Any help on what I should do now?
Thanks

Not a doctor etc, but your levels look good no? But maybe they’ve only just got this way so you could try to relax and look after yourself for a few weeks and hope your mind and body catch up with how your numbers look? Lots of luck. X
Looks to me as though your TSH is now going too low/too much medication. Did you have your last blood test without medication prior. Looks like you could do with adding a small amount of T4 in too.
You might be someone who does not do well on T3 only. Some people need higher free T4. I take T3 only but my Free T4 doesn't go as low as yours. When it does drop below range, I feel rough and take a grain of NDT. Perhaps you need to add in some T4. Your ferritin isn't great and I'd like my B12 higher than your is. Also high triglycerides suggest that you be healthier on a low carb diet .
Hi, yeh thought about low T4, but I’m terrified to try it again. I was so ill on T4. Getting my ferritin up gradually and working on trying to get b12 higher.
He's not wrong about the low carb diet. I switched to LCHF and felt better the next day! I was having several migraines a week, some severe, and haven't had one since I dropped the carbs. I miss bread and pasta like crazy - but I miss the migraines and needing to nap in the afternoon a lot less.
I have had triglycerides tested in cholesterol Medichecks ‘pack’ with vits etc recently ...had slightly over range total cholesterol and triglycerides ( 2.3 of <1.7) but dr. thought good low unhealthy LDL and non HDL ‘reassuringly normal’ and never mentioned triglycerides. I had mistakenly not fasted for 12 hours, but eaten 3-4 hours before. Should I go low carbs too., been difficult as been feeling so tired and achy, carb. based meals are easy way to feed everyone!
Yeah, this is the Catch 22. Feel knackered - stick a piece of bread in the toaster. I got round many of the associated issues of suddenly dropping carbs by winding down, then having quite a lot of protein and loads of fat to make me feel full. I could then ease off the protein and not miss it.
My brekkie is very protein heavy, so I don't know if that sets me up for the day. I have little protein the rest of the day. I was aiming for going keto, but there's no way I could do fiddly meals and count macros at the moment.
Despite not reaching keto, I lost a lot of weight within 2 weeks - esp the belly area. This would indicate I'm on the right track, and I may not even bother going keto if the LCHF diet does the trick.
I have to make my own choccies - but I can do it in about 10 mins by now. I also started adding chia seeds to my smoothie to help curb any hunger pangs, and I think they do help. I'm experimenting with chia puddings, too, as they thicken up coconut milk (I don't use dairy).
TBH, a quick look on the internet and you are bombarded by low-zero carb recipes with lots of fat. Lots of cakes and puddings, too. I normally use stevia as my sweetener, but have just discovered Monkfruit which looks, tastes, and behaves EXACTLY like sugar.
I've given up on carb-free bread. I tried loads of recipes when I was on the Specific Carb diet for Crohn's. No matter how hyped the recipe, it all tasted like eggy cake to me.
In a way, though, we're very lucky. There is so much stuff to buy to avoid carbs, and you're spoilt for choice with recipes for just about everything.
