Texts about ferritin, vitamins B12, D, etc and thyroid

Hi

I've now seen many times on the forum that it is recommended to test ferritin, vitamins such as B12, D, folate, etc, in order to ensure their levels are optimal for the thyroid hormones to be most effective (I'm on the Levothyroxine). I'd like to ask my GP to get it all tested but I'd also like to show him some texts explaining why it is so important.

Would appreciate some links to the relevant online resources

Thanks

How about this

New NHS England Liothyronine guidelines November 2018 clearly state on pages 8 & 12 that TSH should be between 0.4-1.5 when treated with just Levothyroxine

Note that it says test should be in morning BEFORE taking Levo thyroxine

Also to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

sps.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploa...

This document only recommends testing for deficiencies.....but patients find low, but within range results are frequently not high enough

It would appear that there are a number of possible ways that hypothyroidism can affect the gut - even if it isn't hashimotos - and lead to problems absorbing vitamins and minerals from food. Iron tends to be the first mineral to be affected, followed by vitamins B12 and B9 (folate).
