summoned to doctor

These are my results this week, and have had a letter asking me to attend the surgery.

Free T3 3.7 (2.6-5.7). Free T4 11.3 (9.0 -19.0). TSH 0.03 (0.35-4.94). Also calcium 2.32 (2.2 - 2.6). Parathyroid 7.2 (1.2-7.2).

I did have a parathyroid adenoma removed 3 years ago, hence this test.

I am concerned that I may be refused future T3. currently take 75 mcg levothyroxine and 20 of liothyronine, which I have taken for about ten years, the last four or so, with fairly similar thyroid test results.

Advice would be greatly received so I am forearmed!!

How do you feel?

Your FT4 is perhaps on the low side....you might want to increase Levothyroxine a bit? This might help increase FT3 a bit too

Unlikely GP will agree ....they will only be looking at the low TSH

TSH is almost always suppressed on any dose of T3

When were vitamin D, folate and B12 last tested?

These were done at the same time, folate etc all within range, did not get copy of vitamin D result, but do supplement with 2000mcg daily,. just worried they may withdraw the t3. Thanks for your reply.

Don’t agree to reduce or come off T3. Take with you diogenes & co critique of TSH test. If all else fails ask what the confidence interval of the test is (GP won’t know) then ask for a repeat test after three months to check this test is reliable (buy more time). Check that you are following advice given on this site for time gap between last dose before test. Good luck

Asyou are on a combination of T3/T4 then you will know that the results are read differently but does your GP? If on the correct dose for you then I would expect TSH to be suppressed, FT4 could drop lower in its range from what it would have been on T4 only but FT3 would be high in its range so I would suggest you are a little undermedication. I take NDT so the medication is already apportioned so I'm not familiar on how you should juggle yours. It may be that your VIT D, B12, folate and ferritin aren't optimal so worth looking into that.

Thank you, B12, folate and ferritin are all in range, did not get Vitamin d result, so will find that out at the drs appointment.

There is a huge difference to being in range and optimal. Have a look at SeasideSusie's post asshe is most helpful giving out advice of what is meant by optimal and how to do it.
