Levo dose changed, 2nd set lab reports - bit confusing!! Help appreciated

5 weeks ago following lovely advice from here and a visit to a private hormone clinic, I reduced my levo from 150 to 125, (and started oral progesterone and oestrogen patch for menopause). Still not right with pins and needles and anxiety and panic being worst symptoms. Did another Thriva blood test and a bit confused now.

TSH (0.27 - 4.3 mlU/L) has gone from 1.23 to 5.1 now

FT4 (12 - 23 pmol/L) has gone from 37.7 to 27.7 now

T4 (66 - 181 nmol/L ) has gone from 181 to 120 now

TPEX (0 - 34 klU/L) has gone from 157 to 146 now

TGAB (0 - 115 kU/L) has gone from 178 to 131

So, my interpretation of this is that antibodies stuff is reducing (good?) but now TSH has gone up (bad?) And FT4 has gone down a bit but still raised (indicating overactive?)

I don't go back for my private hormone appt until 10 May, so wondering what to do with my dose for the next 4 weeks.

Also due back at work next week, so have started taking 5-HTP which seems to be helping take the edge off my anxiety

All comments gratefully received on this long journey to re- balance!! Xx

Hi Quaver. It looks to me as if you are a poor converter from Ft4 the storage hormone to T3 the active hormone so your levels of T4 are building up without raising your t3 enough for you to feel well. There is a genetic test (apologies unable to remember name of it) you can take to confirm your poor convertion and this has helped some people access T3 medication on NHS. You might also want to consider self treatment accessing some T3 yourself. I think there is little to be gained from changing your t4 dose except perhaps reducing as sometimes high levels can be a bit toxic. You are not going to feel better I imagine until on some T3.

Thanks for that, also just wondering should my focus be on reducing the TSH level, rather than worrying about antibodies levels?

I cant see a lot of point, it would just be treating a blood test to try a reduce TSh rather than you as a person (a lot of doctors do this). Your focus really needs to be on raising your FT3 level. Reducing antibodies is always a good idea, lots of people try a gluten free diet to do this and it seems helpful for many.
