Blood Results and change of Levo dose.

Hi there,

Please can someone advise me if this is ok to do. My consultant has agreed to reduce my Levothyroxine to 75mg on a Monday and Thursday and the rest of the week 100mg. I take t3 5mg also which I believe might need increases to ten, my consultant says to re test in three months. These are my blood results:

Free T4 22.5

TSH 0.02 Range 0.27-4.2

T3 5.8 Range 3.1-6.8

I am hoping this reduces vertigo dizziness palpitations and migraines.

Many thanks I really appreciate all your advice.😊

Hi Soprano67, I have looked on your Profile page but there's no information re how and when you became to be diagnosed as hypothyroid.

I hope you begin to feel better and have symptoms resolve on your new regime

To have all these symptoms (vertigo dizziness palpitations and migraines) sounds awful and I do hope they are resolved.

Hi Shaws,

Thank you so much for your kind reply. I have been with this forum a few years I accidentally unsubscribed and how just re joining.

I was diagnosed in 2010 then Hashimotos 2016 which I only found out this year. I took flu in 2019 or covid not sure which as I lost my voice for months it was very painful. I have had vertigo this last two years constant day out day in.. I was taking 20mg t3 then reduced to 10 then 5mg.

I took bad reaction to both vaccines with heart palpitations chest pain and chest crushing. I have finally convinced my consultant that I believe vertigo is due to high T4 .

I am taking 5mg t3 eight weeks now. My iron needs to be increased a little more and b12.

Do u think reducing dose for few days will help?

I really appreciate all your advice and support.

Thank you ..

First, I am sorry that you had reactions to both Covid jabs. That would have been very worrying for you and your family.

If we were taking thyroid hormones and then having the virus jab, could it be that one interfered with the other? I doubt anyone would know the answer.

I am not sure how best to advise (as you know I'm not medically qualified) but I would increase T3 very slightly every week and see if you hit a 'sweet spot' - i.e you feel well with no symptoms.

As I had awful palps on T4 and none on T3 only - it might be worth a small experiment on your part. I have been able to reduce my dose of T3 and I've always gone on 'how I feel' as that's how doctors used to advise patients before blood tests were invented and they would have been prescribing NDTs.

To have no symptoms after - for many people - ups/down, is a relief and as long as no changes are made within the tablets we should be o.k. (hopefully).

Thank you Shaws yes it was quite scary I just hope it doesn’t happen with the booster or Flu vaccine.

I am so sorry to hear you had palpitations on the T4 though glad you are better now.

I think u are right I need to increase t3 though I will try the reduced T4 and see how it goes. I need to increase b12 too though he hasn’t said that. I might order ingennous b complex again or their magnesium and vitamin c.

I am just recovering from an ear infection now have swollen lymph glands. I was prescribed bruffen which has made me spaced out. I am hoping the swelling on my glands will go down once I change dose.

Thank you so much I appreciate your advice I would be lost without this forum.

I would contact the following as I believe people who've had a reaction to the 'virus jab' should report it.

This is a link I've just come across. I also think if someone has had a reaction within the jab area that it would have/should have been reported.

Thank you Shaws I did report in via the yellow card scene but I forgot to follow up on it as I was sent an email but I was very unwell. My Gp said it was reaction to vaccine but unless I had allergic one I was to get second one. My consultant said it was a virus. My parents had no reaction and they are elderly other than fatigue.

I just seem to have a delicate system.

My consultant told me it was unlikely I will get rid of vertigo I am only 44 surely it will go eventually.

Many thanks

Hopefully your vertigo will go.

Why is the expert so despondent. We patients need some support. I would be reluctant and this may be helpful:-

Thank you Shaws I will ring the yellow card tomorrow and see what they say. I’m not sure I told him my chiropractor said that he can cure my vertigo and he replied it’s highly unlikely. I think he’s under a lot of pressure , when I first started with him he went by symptoms as well as bloods and really listened to me. I have been asking this last year to reduce T4 .

Hopefully this will work .😊

What's the range for the FT4? Surely it's only slightly over-range, no? Can't see the need to reduce it, but if you do, there's really no need to wait six weeks before increasing the T3. You symptoms could very well be down to low T3 and low B12. Personally, I would have tried optimising the B12 before convincing my endo that the problem lay in the high T3.

Hi Grey goose, hope you are well thank you so much for your reply.

I have been having vertigo this last two years and constant infections. I was on 20mg t3 which I reduced to 10 in the summer and then I took severe palpitations after both vaccines and chest pains. I just felt wired so I reduced to 5mg t3 this last eight weeks.

My consultant told me I prob will always have vertigo which I find hard to believe as I have had it in the past and when I got levels, Vitamin D, B12 , Folate, Iron sorted I was good.

The top of range was 21.2.

I am recovering from ear infection which I left eight weeks to see the doctor, I now have swollen lymph glands which isn’t helping vertigo. Honestly I am so worried I will never be well.

I was prescribed bruffen for pain and it just makes me out of it and more dizzy.

I think u are right b12 isn’t great as should be 700 at least.

Many thanks 😊
