Pity you haven't had your FT3 tested, that would make it clearer that your pituitary isn't producing enough TSH. Your FT4 is low compared to your TSH. Have they tested any other pituitary hormones, to see if they're affected: HGH, ATCH, etc.?

Then that should be the next step. :)

Clearly your FT4 is very low. You need FT3 tested plus both TPO and TG antibodies and vitamin D too

Classic sign of being hypothyroid is low stomach acid, low B12

Fibromyalgia is often linked to low FT3 levels

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

Hi greengrass100

I’m so happy to hear from you! We have much in common. I too had a pituitary prolactinoma that was treated for two years before it was finally surgically removed in 2011. At surgery i lost adh hormone (water balance). Since then i was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency (no cortisol) in 2014. This year I was diagnosed with central hypothyroidism. My doctor explained that my thyroid was fine but because my pituitary is not making TSH I now needed levo to get F4. She explained I will not get F3 back so no need to test for that. So now 6 months later I have just now gotten up to 50 mg.

I am 61 yo and like you I’m just d r a g g I n g! I sweat profusely on my head even if I think of moving. I’ve gained a lot of weight in the last year. Help! Help! Help!

I have not had my vitamins tested ( but will ask next week for test.)

As for your question, have you had cortisol tested? This may be the cause. Again, that pituitary issue. Central hypothyroidism is vastly difficult to treat and misunderstood. Be sure you are seeing an endo that specializes.

Let me know what goes on....

Hello...this is my story ( I make it the short version) and maybe you can help me or I can help you?

I am 49 years old and after the birth of my son (23 years ago) I never got my period again and I also have breast that are leaking. I NEVER had any health problems until 3 years ago...

Here are my problems:

internal vibrations

stiffness all over

eye problems-photophobia and meibomian gland dysfunction

I can not watch television or use the computer a lot because my eyes hurts all the time

Can't drive car...

Also dry eyes-mouth etc...

Acne and oily face...

Gained 15 kg...the last year...If I eat I gain a lot and I do not eat much.

Constipation.

Very depressed and I went to a lot of doctors already.

I have a diagnose of Restless legs syndrome (do not believe this) and Microprolactinoma.(I do believe this)

That's it...

I have problems with these blood-levels:

Vit d very low...11 and prolactine is sometimes 122-144...also to high.

And my liver and red blood cells are not so good...

I am thinking to start with some medicins to treat prolactinoma...what do you think?
