I've had two cortisol and DHEA tests and both times they have shown high cortisol morning and mid morning. My DHEA is also very low.
I am already taking NDT and I am at 2&1/2 grains. I have tried to increase the NDT by 1/4 of a grain, but, I felt jittery, anxious and after 3 days of feeling like this I went back down to 2 & 1/2 grains, I'm holding at this dosage now for 6 weeks and then I am going to have a blood test to see where I am at, as well as my vitamin levels (November showed them to be good)
I still have symptoms so I know I'm not on the correct dosage, but some of my symptoms are definitely high cortisol issues.
I have ordered some Nuri adrenals and I wonder if anyone has experience of taking them. Dr Peatfield in his book states to sort out adernals before taking any thyroid medication . However, there is no way I can stop my NDT as I will be on my knees.
I was on levo before via the NHS, but to say I felt worse on it was an understatement.
Any advice on this greatly appreciated.
Best Wishes

Usually adrenal cortex supplements are taken for lowcortisol not high. Nutri Adrenal, Nutri Adrenal Extra and Adrenavive are used to increase cortisol levels. You will just increase your levels with these
As Mischa says, adrenal glandulars raise cortisol. Adaptogens lower it, I mentioned before that I took adaptogens to lower my high cortisol and am now taking a glandular to raise it.
I would post your adrenal results on the RT3 Adrenal website. Also the STTM site as STTM bk and site concentrate on NDT which you are using. I would include a RT3 when testing thyroid then post results.Iron should be optimum - full iron panel required - stop iron and bit C 5 days before test.
I'm on the same boat, high cortisol, low dhea and currently taking 1 1/2 grain of NDT. Been feeling like crap for 5 years, just been diagnosed, still feeling very bad.
What I know for sure in order to lower the cortisol you would need holy basil capsules or rhodiola or relora. I tried all of them but unfortunately they gave me more anxiety, so I decided to lower it by taking zinc, mine is very low, vitamin C and Dhea (the doc prescribed me Dhea and testosterone as they are very low). So zinc, vit C, Dhea, some dietary changes and trying not to be stressed will lower the cortisol.
May I ask you what symptomes do you have? With NDT did they disappear or at least lessened?
