I have low DHEA and have been prescribed 2x 25mcg of DHEA by my Endo. I’ve been taking it at 8am (2h away from my NDT) and at 12 noon. I take 3.25 grains of NDT, 2 grains at 6am and 1.25 grains at 4pm
I am not sure that right though? Any of you who take this and have some advice to share please?
Thank you

That timing sounds fine to me, except is there a reason you're splitting doses? Also is it mcg or mg? 50 mcg is a tiny dose, while 50mg is quite a lot (probably too much especially for women). How long have you been on it and have you experienced side effects? Will the endo followup with a test at some point to check it's not too much?
I take alternating 5 & 10 mg DHEA about 2 hours after thyroid meds.
Hi Jade_s It’s Mg. My Endo prescribed it like that as my DHEA was really low. He said I can be on it for a long time. I’ve probably been on it for about a year.
What side effects do you think there are? And why do you think it’s too much please?
Masculinization, excessive hair and sweating/smell, acne, deepening voice, and other symptoms of excessive androgens are signs of too much dhea. For dose, I was going by the literature that suggests 25 mg as a recommended max dose for women. I took another look at the literature now since it's been a while, and I see that eg in cases of adrenal insufficiency they were using 50mg in studies. I will have to dig into the papers on my computer to find the reference to 25mg. But of course everyone has their own needs - these studies and recommendations are only that, and each person can be different as we all know.
Since I thought you were just starting I was thinking along the lines of titrating up like one would with thyroid meds, start low and see how the response is. But since you've already been on it for a while, your doctor is following up, & if you have no side effects, then feel free to ignore everything I've written!
