No Thyroid (thyroid cancer) Naturethroid/Metavive

I have been using Naturethroid for a few years, which started off well. However like a lot of people on this site I have suffered ill health while on the new batches. I have heard that Metavive IIII is a good alternative.

Is there anybody like me without a thyroid who has made a successful switch to Metavive.

I've seen posts on the forum from members who do well on Metavive. Hopefully they will respond :)

Do you mean Metavive lll or Metavive lV?

Metavive l and ll are porcine, Metavive lll and lV are bovine.

Thank you for your reply SeasideSusie . I have been dabbling with both I and II Metavive nd didn't know there was a difference between III & IV Metavive, thank you for educating me !!!. Having read a bit about Metavive on this site, I have been adding every other day Metavive II, thinking it might be a bit much have now gone down to Metavive I every other day alongside 2 grains of Naturethroid daily. I am STILL not well, and beginning to despair.

Margo,

Sorry, she isn’t taking Metavive but Thyrovanz with her Levo.

Margo, as you have no thyroid gland, I don’t think Metavive would be a good sole replacement to the Naturethroid you are presently medicating, as you would not be able to replace enough of your missing thyroid hormones with just a glandular.

However, hopefully taking it in addition may help.

Thanks radd for asking your sister.

Thanks for your opinion, which I welcome. I feel like I am going around in circles at the moment. I know I should try the Levo'/T3 combination that a few people on here take without a thyroid, but have always been nervous of Levo', this was the medication given to me straight after my thyroid removal and I was very un-well.

I am still hoping to get some replies on this one, if not I might try wording a different way.

Thanks again.

I was on a combo of metavive and T3 for quite a while (I have no thyroid) and found a definite improvement than being on Levo. I don,t know how it compares to naturethroid as I have not tried it but as I understand it metavive 1 is equivalent to 1/4 grain of ndt and metavive 11 is equivalent to 1/2 grain of ndt. Metavive 111 & 1V are the bovine equivalents. Metavive certainly gave me my life back!

Thank you SO much Suesews , you are just the person I want to hear from?!!

Would you mind to tell me the combination you are on, and when you take it. I would be very keen to have a go at your formula. I am so fed up at the moment, I feel so rotten, and anything would be an improvement.

Thanks again.

I can certainly relate to feeling rotten, I was like that for years and being fobbed off by docs just gets you down! I think dosage differs greatly from person to person so you may need a different amount to me. I take 25mcg T3 + 45ndt at 7am then another 60 ndt at 1pm. However I have discovered thyroid S from Thailand and am slowly moving over to this. I have found this to be just as good and far cheaper!!

I don't have a thyroid and looking for a replacement for thiroyd as you can no longer get it. My gp wanted me to go back on levo, I told her unless I can get a perscription for t3 it's a no go. Won't write a perscription for t3. I am not struggling to get t3 because paypal and credit and debit cards won't let you pay that way now. If anyone knows a reliable source for t3 please pm me.Thanks
