Metavive Experience Feedback

Hello to all of you lovely people!!

I thought to update on my Metavive (porcine) experience this my original posts: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

After starting with 1 metavive II and one Metavive I for 2 week I continued with 2 Metavive II for 3 weeks feeling undermedicated I then have taken 2 Metavive II and one Metavive I for 17 days and I started to feel undermedicated again very sleepy around 5pm headaches in the afternoon and heart rate of 60/62 beat per minute waking up in the morning (while on Thyroid S (NDT) 2.5 to 2.75 tablets a day I was at 67). So I decided from yesterday to add one Metavive I to my dose but in the afternoon to avoid the dip of energy at 5pm. Now I take 2 metavive II and One Metavive I in the morning with a bit of food and I take one Metavive I at 3pm with a drink and a couple of crackers feeling better for now but from my lasts experiences I may feel undermedicated again after another 10 days 2 weeks... and may have to increase again... will keep posting my experience to help others hopefully.

Keep safe.... :)

I’m now on 4 met II and 1 met I and only today has my basal temp gone up and feeling better still haven’t done blood test but think it’s working but just not sure if I need more or not yet . Been increasing every 2 weeks but last week I increased a met II in a week as I felt so hypo .

Do you split the doses or take it all in the morning? Will be interesting to see how much we both need to become optimal. But you were taking thyrogold quite at high dose. Hope your will reach the right dose soon.

I take 2 metII and 1 metI with breakfast and then at dinner time so about 6/7 I take 2 metII

Hi! Could I please ask how you are doing on Metavive now? I'm thinking of starting taking it myself. Thank you!

Hi you can read my profile and how I reacted on it . I must of taken too much as I was overmedicated and didn’t feel great in it the trouble is that we don’t know how much T3 and T4 is in it . If you type into search metavive experiment you’ll see that some people didn’t do well on the added nucleocites they put in last year ! Sorry to be so negative! I’m now on thyroid s and doing really well in it 😊

Maybe you should take it without food for at least 30 mn ?

AGen profile image
AGen in reply to1eskimo

Yes, I've always taken my T3 on an empty stomach first thing in the am. I wait for an hr and then my 2 cups of coffee. My Integrative medicine doctor (who prescribed Armour) suggested 1/2 - 1 hr. So upon waking for an early am trip to the bathroom I take it. Back to bed and up an hr later.

Thank you for replying. :)

When I was on Levo I used to take it on empty stomach 1 hour before breakfast then I tried with food then on empty stomach 2 hours before breakfast nothing worked I was so sick all the times exhausted pains Gerd bad memory weight gain unable to focus for 7 years then done a drastic diet 500/600 cals for one year with one hour aerobic type exercise every day plus walking and using my bike for shopping then I lost 25 kg (4 stones) it help with Gerd but I was still sleepy tired foggy brain and with multiple pains was diagnosed with Fibro then after another 4 years on Levo I switched to Thyroids S and felt like another person even my fibro is nearly gone.

I used to buy 1000 tablets for £30 on <removed by admin> then it increased in price bought from <removed by Admin> twice then directly from Thailand ... Unfortunately Thyroid S is now so difficult to source and also buying from thailand takes a long time and you never know if they stop it somewhere and you have to pay duty on it or never receive it at all.

I decided to try Metavive, along my weeks of trial taking it religiously on empty stomach I realised that taking it with food in the morning which happened a few times as i did not wake up in time, seems to work better and it is a view that is shared by different Naturopaths like Dr Roderick Lane, so I am experimenting with this and feel good but will have to see if the dose I am in is sufficient or if I feel undermedicated I will increase again by 1 Metavive I and so on... until i feel well.

I think the mainstream doctor prescribing synthetic T4 and T3 advise on taking it on empty stomach but some naturopath think it is not at all natural for the body as usually it is delivered to the blood stream by the thyroid gland and then travel to the different organs and cells and those hormones never hit an empty stomach.

Take care.

Apart from the price, it sounds as though we need much more of it than other NDTs, making it very costly for those on a lower income. Why couldn't 'they' leave the Thai NDTs alone?

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toHypopotamus

I think everybody is different but yes in general one capsule is weaker than NDT also it is difficult to compare also because it seems the nucleotides they recently added improved the absorption. The advantage is saving on shipping cost (and that it is at your door step in 2/3 days) and saving on tax duty even if my Thyroid S was never stopped and I never paid import duty on it. For example I buy from the state the Patented AREDS2 formula for wet AMD and on the top of the price i have to pay around £18 of shipping and last time had to pay £17 for tax and handling fee to royal mail... so it increased the price by 40%... ofc it would be much better if the NHS would recognise that many people don't do well on Levo alone and allowed us to have NDT on prescription they could even make a contract with a lab to buy it for less... but I am dreaming here...🙂 keep safe.

I’m on 9 metavive 1 a day. Take three in the morning, three at lunch and three in the evening. Feeling great on it. I tried netavive2 but struggle swallowing them as they are big.

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toAmandaj51

Same dose than Blackpanther46 then, I am now on the equivalent of 6 Metavive I will see if i need more. What were you taking before and how much? With the capsules if you leave them in your mouth for a minute with a bit of liquid they become quite slippery and easier to swallow. 🙂

Wow, what an experience you've had. I had great results on Armour (in the sates) especially after removing half my thyroid. Upon moving back to the UK and having to find another resource. I did have very good results with Thyroid-S. I can no longer get Thyroid -S since Covid hit. I am now on Metavive II also and take one tab a day with good lab results for t3/tsh. The only thing missing was that wee bit of T4. I'll see on my next labs how the adding of T4 worked or didn't work.

Quite a few factors came into play with Thyroid S: the swine flue, Asian countries including China had to cull 1/2 of their life stock then the Thai government changed its law on raw material import not sure if it was before Covid 19 or as a result of it and of course the shipping issues with the reduction or absence of flights. You are taking very little how much Thyroid S were you taking before? Do you take Levo with Metavive also. :)

good to know thanks. i’m starting to run low on my ndt and reluctant to swap to levo plus t3. how did you know what to add in terms of metavive, seems like there are so many different options? i have some metavive 2 here and no idea where to start ( i’m on nature throid 4.5 grains)

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply tolondon81

Ok this how I started bear in mind that I was taking 2.5/ 2.75 grain of thyroid S which is a bit stronger that Nature throid I think it may have been like 3 grains of nature throid. So this how I did it at first (a little convoluted but I am in my 60s and had occasional angina in the past when over medicated so wanted to be careful.)When I started myself on metavive, I first reduced thyroid S to 2 grains for 10 days and then took 2 metavive II and one thyroid S for 4 days but i felt too fuzzy and decided to take just one of each for a week (I metavive II and one grain Thyroids S)

because I had an appointment for blood test two weeks ahead I switched completely to Metavive, took I metavive II and I Metavive 1 for 2 weeks and felt really undermedicated and also in my blood test my TSH was still completely supressed but my T3 were under range and my T4 just above low level, so I started 2 Metavive II kept going for 3 weeks but felt undermedicated, headaches slow heart beat, sleepiness... so increased with One Metavive 1 (so I was taking 2 Met 2, and 1 Met 1,) this for 17 days and started to feel low again so in the last 3 days I have been on 3 Metavive 2. Now I feel good take 2.5 in the morning and 0.5 at 3pm but i have to wait another 2 weeks to make sure i still feel good. You may want to start with 1 nature throid and 2 Metavive 2 and see how you feel then you could try going for 2.5 Metavive for 10 days/2 weeks and increase to 3 Met 2 and keep going with 1 Met1 Increase every 2 weeks or every time you feel undermedicated for a couple of days you may need something like 5 Metavive 2 but yet again it may be less... {Yet again if you are still quite young and healthy you could try 5 Metavive 2 from the get go and reduce the dose if you feel over medicated}

Best of luck in switching I think you should buy Metavive 1 to enable you to tweak your dosage nicely.

Take care and please keep us inform of your experience it will help everyone. :)

Great to hear that you are doing well on metavive. I am also finding it great, was on 3 thiroyd, now on two metavive11. So for me it is either stronger than the thai thiroyd, or it works better with the added nucleotides. Whatever, I am grateful!!

Hi, how much metative II you take? i used to take 3 TR.Thank u

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply toMicky7

HiI had to stop Metavive read my post that explains why

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu......

I also tried Forefront from the US but there are no hormones there so i wasted my time and my money also became very sleepy when testing my TSH gone up to 27... If you look at my profile i posted about all my adventures lol... I am now back on Thyroid S and feeling good.

I think if you want to try Metavive try the bovine one much closer to TR and far less nucleotides and more dried thyroid gland in each capsule. Will pm you with a link about Met content. Take care.

@starsw how are you feeling now?

Some days I don’t get why we have to remain 2 weeks on a dose that seem too low ... I’m really thinking of increasing my metavive dosage tomorrow because I’m way too hypo right now. And can’t remain like this for an additional week :(

Starsw profile image
Starsw in reply tohendb

Hi hendb,

I am feeling quite good at the moment Metavive wise (had a UTI but its seems to have settled now) I am now taking 2 Metavive 2 In the morning and 1 Metavive I at 1 pm and another Metavive I at 4.30 I have been on the same dose for nearly two weeks also i had split it differently at the beginning.

I think 2 weeks is a precautionary measure specially for older people or people with heart issue as a sudden increase in thyroid hormones can give palpitation or even angina apparently it takes around 6 weeks for your body to settle completely, in any case if you don't have heart issue you can increase the dose quicker if it comes to the point that after feeling good on the same dose for quite a while you feel either over or under medicated you can then tweak the dose accordingly.

I am now taking one Met 1 in the evening because I felt a drop in energy around 5/6 pm. I hope this is the dose i need as usually by day 10 on the same dose i was starting to feeling really undermedicated headaches, constipation, sleepiness and difficulties to concentrate.

What were you taking before and how much and how much Metavive are you taking now?

Bare in mind that every one is different so you really use the information from others in this forum as a guideline but then you have to watch your own body.

I hope you will feel better soon.

Take care 🙂

Sorry i never saw your message i had to stop Metavive i posted why here healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... am now back on Thyroid S and doing very well. I also after Metavive tried Forefront from the US but it obviously contains no hormones so my TSH shooted to 27... I posted about that to if you go on my profile you will find all my updates.

Hope you are doing well if you want to try metavive i would advise taking the bivine one as it contains far less nucleotides.

Take care.

🙂
