I am taking Metavive 1 at the moment as an alternative to levo. 25mcg, on the Metavive directions it says to take 1 Capsule daily be fore meals. Does anyone know if this means to leave a gap of a few hours (as with Levo. ) or can it be taken immediately before meal?

If you take levo before breakfast you wait an hour before eating. If you've had a full meal before taking levo you then allow a longer time for food to digest.

So if you take Metavive first thing I assume you'd wait an hour as with levo. Other members may have responses.

Thanks , I have been taking levo in the middle of the night when I have a loo visit and know that tummy is reasonably empty then, maybe would be ok to continue same process with metavive. Perhaps someone who takes M. will tell me what they do!

Have checked on the Metavive website and it says best to take half to one hour before food so seems the same advice as applies to levo. However if not poss. will still work even if taken with or after food !!! Will leave a gap as usual methinks

You cannot know that there is any hormone in Metavive at all, so it is not a substitute for levo. It contains "co-factors, vitamins and minerals etc" from the thyroid gland to help the gland operate well, but probably no hormones at all. The only OTC supplment that apparently does contain hormones is Thyrogold. I'd take on an empty stomach, though.

Hello foxglove.

Having ordered Metavive & Adrenavive in the past & speaking with the supplier, the advice is:-

With both products take them 15 to 20 mins before food. Taking them with food makes for optimal absorption.

Good luck on your journey to better health.

Even if Metavive contains thyroid hormone, is there any control on how much from batch to batch of tablets? If not, it is not suitable as a levothyroxine substitute since you do not know exactly what you are taking and whether it's always right from occasion to occasion. NDT does have such control.

Hi foxglove although I know it's a while since I hope you don't mind me asking,

please can you let me know how you have gone on with metavive, I've been taking it too and also Adrenavive via dr p, I'm sure adrenals have picked up but feel very flat indeed since stopping to metavive from tiny levo and t3

How long do you know before checking bloods again? Dr p didn't mention about this and unsure if to increase it, did your tsh come down with metavive?

Thanks 🌸
