I’ve felt terrible for a long time and have been trying to push doctors to get help. I’ve recently got results and would really appreciate anyone’s input on whether my thyroid could be the problem.
TSH - 1.08 ( 0.30-4.20)
Free t4 - 12.0 ( 9.0 - 23.0)
Vitamin d - 96

Amber83 - was your blood draw at the very earliest and fasting?
We really need a Full Thyroid Blood Test and I don't know why doctors don't request it. I assume they've been told that only TSH and FT4 is o.k. but it isn't if it means the difference between getting diagnosed or not. As your TSH is low your doctor wont diagnose. He wont take into account that your FT4 is near the bottom of the range when it should be nearer the top and I suspect your FT3 will also be low.
A Full Thyroid Function Test is:
TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. If you have antiodies in your blood, despite any other results, you should be given levothyroxine.
Today Medichecks has a Special Offer and, just for information, I will give the link below. If you decide to do it, make sure your arms and hands are warm and you're well hydrated for a couple of days before blood draw.
Blood was drawn in the afternoon I think and non fasting. I went to a PMS clinic as part of investigations of my symptoms.
I wasn’t taking anything when I had the tests completed but have recently started a progesterone only contraceptive pill, is it likely this would affect future test results?
I think, then, that you should get another blood test at the very earliest, fasting. Your GP may not do all of the above, so I'd suggest, if you can, get a private test following the advice above.
I don't believe "progesterone only contraceptive pill", would affect results .
The earliest blood test is preferable as the TSH is highest then and drops throughout the day which can mean the difference between being diagnosed or not.
I’ve had a look at medichecks and I’m confused as neither thyroid check ultra or thyroid check have all the tests you mentioned. They done seem to include t3 t4 only free t3 and t4 ?
Yes ur correct I haven’t been diagnosed. Feels like a huge list of symptoms but the most troublesome is feeling exhausted all the time, doing the simplest of tasks makes me feel breathless and my heart beat hard like I’m having trouble pulling any energy together. Feeling either so hot I could pass out or cold that I can’t get warm. Feels like I’m coming down with something all the time.
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.
Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
