What sort of tests are you talking about? Most people on here want private tests because their doctor will only test the TSH, and that is not adequate for diagnosing or treating an under-active thyroid, because it is not a thyroid hormone. What tests does your doctor do for under-active thyroid?

As greygoose mentions, what blood tests are you requiring. Is it for hypothyroidism? The GP usually only tests the TSH and T4 and wont diagnose until TSH is around 10, some may prescribe earlier if they are a bit knowledgeable.

Any blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the very earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) and if you were taking thyroid hormones you'd have to allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levothyroxine and the test and take afterwards.

GP has to test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. GP wont do all of the following but we have private labs that will do them. We have three private labs and make sure you are well-hydrated a couple of days before blood draw. if you decide on a private test.

You need:

TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

Put your results on a new post with the ranges for comments.
