Blood Sample and Hashimoto's

Hello,

I am on 50mg of Levothyroxine and have had a years worth of high TSH and T4 levels, similar to the one that I have just had.

I am posting my results and hope that you will all confirm what I think could be Hashimotos

Saw a lovely Doctor who sent me for all the tests that you recommended that I have.

I hope they make sense, here they are with the reference levels.

Serum TSH level 6.5mu/L (0.27-4.2)

Serum Free T4 level 21.2pmol/L (12.0-22.0)

Serum free triiodothyronine level 3.3pmol/L (3.1-6.8)

Thyroid peroxidase ab's 107ku/L (<60)

Serum vitamin B12 level 335ug/L (180.0-914.0)

Serum folate level 30ug/L (10.0-307.0)

Serumtotal 25 hydroxy vitamin D level 33.9nmol/L

<30-50nmol/L Vitamin D insufficiency, consider replacement

Am guessing my antibodies are outside the range and are positive and I have a lowish amount of Vitamin D, and the T3 is just within range.

Quite a quick turnaround from a sample given on Saturday!

I am hoping to see her again on Thursday or Friday.

Am guessing she will tell me to take Vitamin D supplements but not sure what else, she did talk about an Endocrinologist.

Thank you in advance

Yes Hashimotos but you need t3 adding to levo with high TSH, high in range freet4 but bottom range free t3. Vitamin d is dire, folate range is very big is that right? B12 is too low. Fingers crossed GP will advise, treat correctly though it will doubtless need endo to get t3 prescribed.

Ah no Folate of course I copied wrongly... folate is 4.7ug/L (3.0-20.0) and Ferritin level was 30ug/L (10.0-307.0).

Thank you

Ferritin dire too, you may need testing for pernicious anaemia, don't supplement until tested or advised otherwise on pa forum. Take ferritin and b12 results over to pernicious anaemia forum on healthunlocked and they will give informed advice. You should get loading doses of vit d from your GP then supplement to keep levels near or over 100.

Good luck 🙂

Normal or high levels of T4 and low T3 could mean your thyroid is having problems converting. You probably need more T3. This is only an 'uneducated' guess but it has helped me, so I wish to impart that much to you. May peace follow you through your journey.
