Stopped Taking t3 2 weeks in

Was on 75 mg T4

T3 5 mcg.

Tsh 3.2.

T4 19 (12-22)

Felt worse with heart racing at night etc though not always after took t3 directly..anxiety worse and hypo symptoms worse when T3 wore off.

Having adrenals checked and supplementing iron.

Would it be reasonable to think stress/anxiety has effect on t3 conversion?had been feeling under par for some time before seeing Endo. Previous T3 result was 4.64 in June and down to 3.9 now?

Wondered if should increase Thyroxine to 100mg and see if that helps first.Endo has suggested maybe sensitive to T3 and may need NDT. Not keen to try this yet

Would simple increase in thyroxine possibly raise t3?

Have you tested your vitamin D

As you have Hashimoto's are you on strictly gluten free diet? May need to be, before can tolerate T3

Your palpitations could be due not being on high enough T3

Your FT3 is far too low obviously

Yes vit d was low back in June at 59..supplementing 2000iu with spray now, tho think will have to give this a while to improve. Not gluten free but will consider.

I couldn't tolerate T3 until vitamins were all optimal and strictly gluten free

Vitamin D needs retesting after 3 months on supplements

2000iu maybe is not high enough dose to improve vitamin D.

Many find they need higher dose. Others find level shoots up.

It's trial and error what dose suits you, so important to test, especially to begin with

T3 doesn't 'wear off'. It's not like aspirin. It stays in the blood for 24 hours, and in the cells for three days. However, I would suggest that you maybe felt unwell because you weren't taking enough, and another dose of 5 mcg would have been helpful later on in the day.

An increase in levo would not be helpful, I don't think, because it's already quite high in range. And, if it goes any higher, it will convert to more rT3 than T3, meaning that your conversion would be even worse.

I don't understand why your endo suggests you might be sensitive to T3 and then suggests you take NDT. NDT contains T3. And, if you started on 1 grain, which would be logical, you would be getting more than 5 mcg T3. I don't think he's exactly on the ball, here.

But why don't you want to take NDT?

Did take extra 2.5 mcg later in day last 2 days and felt hyper symptoms anxious.night sweating, heart racing.may try NDT or T3 again when get vit d and ferritin raised.

Had terrible insomnia and wakening from sleep suddenly in middle of night.

Yes, the problem could very well be that your nutrients are not optimal. :)

Hi, Pamzz,

Your post mirrors my own experience.

I have a few thoughts but I also have a couple of questions that will help me decide whether or not those 'thoughts' will be helpful.

What was your TSH at the time of diagnosis?

What were your symptoms?

How long have you been taking 75mcg T4?

What was your antibody count? (TPO or TGAb)

Not sure what tsh was on diagnosis..was 2-3yrs ago started on 50 mcg only increase to 75 mcg less than a year ago..tsh has came down recently from 5.64 to 3.2. T4 19. TPO was high not sure of numbers but was told had Hashimotos.

Had slumped few weeks ago fatigue..shaking inside..unable to sleep.gp thought had anxiety and offered Prozac which couldn’t tolerate.ENdo thot all related to low t3.
