Is this thyroid related. ?

Hi I have hashimotos , I'm on 150 thyroxine and 10 t3

Just this past two weeks , I've had these aching pains on the top of my legs , also around my shoulders arms and even my hands

My right leg is the worst I'm even walking with a limp

Also constipation has got a lot worse

My anxiety is really bad and brain fog

Could anyone please tell me if this could be thyroid related , and if so do you think I need an increase in t4 or t3 ?

Without your results with ranges it is difficult to comment. Aches and pains can also be linked to low vitamins and minerals - B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD. Maybe you have results for those too ☺

I get all sorts of wretched aches and pains and am never quite sure what is causing them but I think blood tests as suggested are a good idea to try and nail down what is causing yours. Mine tend to disappear as mysteriously as they appeared so I just ignore them!

As you have Hashimoto's are you on gluten free diet?

I had a lot of aches and pains and it turned out to be very low vitamin D, you need a blood test doing but the full works, and then post on this site for the knowledgeable people to comment on. Hope this helps and the best of luck.

Hi,

I seem to ache all over when it's hot weather, funnily enough so does my husband, who doesn't have any thyroid problem.I am thinking maybe it's dehydration as I also sweat a lot more,so try to keep drinking water all the time.

Now the weather has got a bit cooler then it's not so bad.

You need to find out what is causing your Hashimoto's. Most regular MDs are useless for doing this, as it is basically an environmental health problem. You might go on over to youtube and take a look at what "alternative" health-care providers (e.g. Izabella Wentz) say about this. Chances are you have food sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies.

Hi

I have had dreadful pains/aches/stiffness/cramps for the last 2 years all over but mainly in my back (I was attending a pain management clinic).

Last time when I went to get my bloods done for thyroid I asked for a Vit D blood test it showed I was deficient and I have been put on a very large dose for six weeks (currently on week3) but all my aches/pains/stiffness/cramps have totally gone. I can't believe I now feel so well, It may be worth getting your Vit D tested.

You also may consider removing all nightshades from your diet - white potatoes, tomatoes, peppers eggplant (you can use computer to check on diets for Hashimoto's patients)

2 things you must give up - all gluten (and there are many sources of hidden gluten like ground coffee or any take out coffee which is loaded with gluten and even your medications may have gluten so have them checked) and nightshades.

Hashimoto's is just not taking thyroid medications - you have to change what you put into your body. Processed foods are terrible for Hashi's pts.

Another suggestion is magnesium supplement (at night away from other meds so it doesn't interfere with absorbtion

Always get your vitamin D tested before supplementing and retest to see where your levels are.

Lots of Hashimoto's patients turn up here on typical maintenance dose of 800iu from GP ...and months (or years) on when finally re-tested they find they still have very low level.

Retest recommended approx twice a year once you have worked out what you need for maintaining a stable level. Level of supplement probably needs to vary between summer & winter.

Thanks everyone for your replies. My vitamin d levels are fine, I supplement every day 2000 . I've tried gluten free a couple times , found it really difficult, didn't help my symptoms anyway . I guess my aches and pains etc. could be down to my age , I'm 67 , I would like to try ndt but doc said no .

Thanks again everyone
