I’m off to Amsterdam tomorrow and maybe Rotterdam. Any questions about Dutch T3 that I can ask for you? I will be in town for two hours waiting on a friend who’s flight lands two hours after mine so I have nine chemists on my ‘alone time’ map that I’m going to visit. Any thoughts on what else to ask. My list so far:
Do they accept U.K. prescriptions
Brand
Price
Manufacturer
Do they do the same service as the German company we scan and email our prescriptions to.
If I have time and find one friendly enough, I’m thinking to ask - how the healthcare system works eg: can I pay a certain one-off amount and see a gp to get a prescription.

Legal status
Cytomel 5 microgram is an unlicensed medicine in the Netherlands. The Dutch Health Care Inspectorate (IGZ) has given permission for the supply.
Cytomel 5 microgram is supplied “from-pharmacy-to-pharmacy” on named patient basis. An order signed by the pharmacist and a physician’s statement from the prescribing physician are required with every order.
I would be interested in whether the pharmacists have any knowledge or experience of Thyreoïdum (Danish sourced desiccated thyroid)?
I am prescribed Cytomel by my GP on a named patient basis because the british versions of T3 are so weak and hopeless and it arrives within a couple of days to my local independant phamacy. I am aware that it is not licenced here and have had to accept that but it's still about a third the price of British T3. I am currently fighting to retain my T3 as I am a T3 only person but without it I would be dead. At present it is working well for me and seems to be the same as Grossman Cytomel.
Do you include Teva brand T3 in your description of "weak and hopeless"? Because that's what I'm getting from my GP (whilst still fighting about it!) and I strongly dislike it, including the rubbish powdery consistency. Very difficult to split. (Of course did doesn't understand need to split!)
I've not had any British T3 for a number of years now. I spent several years trying various T3s and at the time I was sending in yellow cards with poor quality and weak reports. I am now taking ACE Cytomel which seems to suit me but takes nearly 6 weeks to arrive. After several rounds with the local Endo he is at least now prescribing it for me. I wouldn't go back to any British T3. Strangely it's actually cheaper than British T3!
