Just wanted to post a positive story. Just saw Endo at Kingston hospital (who I’d asked for as he was recommended here) and he was fab. Agreed my 25mcg starting dose was ‘homeopathic’, agreed my latest increase to 75 a good idea - gave me a prescription for Mercury 25s that I wanted to try, said if we can’t get you right on T4 we’ll consider T3! He’d read all my notes before I went it and knew my numbers perfectly. Very pleasantly surprised. I showed him the vits I’m taking and he said yeah, you can take them if you like. He was just really nice. Explained my menopausal symptoms likely now emerging as had previously been suppressed by low thyroid. Put my mind at rest on other matters... all good.
Great first endo appointment: Just wanted to post... - Thyroid UK
Great first endo appointment
Great to read - there are some very good Endocrinologists/Doctors out there!
How nice to read of a good endo, they're a bit like gold dust!
Was he from the list of thyroid friendly endos from ThyroidUK? If not, can you please send his details to be added to the list

A brilliant consultation and what a huge difference this makes to the patient. It would fill you with confidence, I'm sure.
Great news, good to hear a success story 😊
As you have Hashimoto's (very high antibodies) have you had coeliac blood test?
Or are you already on strictly gluten free diet?
Have you had B12, folate, ferritin tested yesterday?
Your vitamin D was too low at previous post
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps, sometimes significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies
Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Hi JAmanda,
That's great to hear. Did he agree to give you T3? Would you pm his name?
Thanks
He said he’d consider t3. Actually, now time has passed my symptoms returned, I had to self increase the levo and am seeing him Wed. He’s on the thyroid list. Let’s see how he is thus Wednesday!
Hi, I've just joined this forum. How can I have your doctor's details please.
How much did he charge?
It was just at Kingston hospital. In fact that doc left but his replacements seem ok giving T3 too. If you need to go private I suggest you look at THYROID UK list.
