Ok so I didn't expect a miracle. After the last two visits, when I saw the endo's registrars (they have them for twelve months on training,) I wan't expecting much and I was right. Ok he wanted to tweak my meds. that I understood and agreed with. Then when I said "ok,so you say I was overmedicated,so why am I still gaining weight?"The answer..".It's your age. You get tired because your thyroid isn't working well,so you don't do enough." Thank you Mr endo I'm off to cry on my GP's shoulder."
Fed up after endo appointment.: Ok so I didn't... - Thyroid UK
Fed up after endo appointment.
Did he ask about your pre-hypothyroid activity/exercise & diet and how it compares/differs now?
No, I didnt thinks so
They seem to put things down to anything but your Thyroid. In the past I have more than once had fluoxetine and others and reading on this site I think a lot of my problems have been thyroid Meds. I think not many doctors or Endo's understand enough about Thyroid disorders and find it easy to blame something else and treat for that, as we do ourselves because WE don't know any better but THEY should. Lol
Hello Beaton,
Please try not to take it to heart, many of those endros are the same - Clueless, mine also put it down to my age (32)
I had decided that after always leaving my GP surgery in tears, I was gong to have my say, armed with lots of information (so I could back up what I was saying) I Went in accompanied by a friend. Me & the endro had a massive arguement - he was getting so angry with me, waving his arms in the arm and trying to scare me out of taking anything other than the so called wonder drug T4. Obviously in his eyes it was T4 & beta blockers or nothing, but I got rid of a lot of stress letting him no what I thought. My main advice would be (going from experience) try to place more of your energy in finding the solution your self, that is what i have done, and two months down the line (of not seeing the docs) I have improved alot. What works for one may not work for another, concentrate on you and have a diary with what you take, what improves, what gets worse, your Pulses, BP & Temp and be prepared to do some detective work. Their is so many fantastic books out their and this website is full of wonderful information. Seeing the docs is wasted energy and causes stress (to be avoided if you have adrenal Issues) I am not suggesting not seeing your GP but see him as an advisor - only you truely know how you feel. I wish you the best of luck
