Hello,

My doctor doesn't want to prescribe me anything (TSH 4.3, low vit D, plenty of hypo symptoms) however I'm glad in a way to have connected the dots with my health problems.

Could anyone recommend any books on helping to understand hypothyroidism? Also recipe books? I know there's lots of info online but it's good to sit with the printed page isn't it?

Thanks,

Alex

You need full Thyroid and vitamin testing, as detailed in previous post.

If antibodies are high then Treatment with Levothyroxine should be started

Improving low vitamins is often first step

How low was vitamin D? Have you been prescribed supplements, if so how much?

B12, folate and ferritin need testing

Thank you, yes, I'm booked for retesting in 2.5 months.

Vit D was 53 and I was told to buy Epigenar D3 and K2 drops as well as a probiotic.

B12 was 409 (197-771)

Ferritin was 106 (13-150)

Folate wasn't tested

Thanks for the advice.

(I also had the test in the afternoon, after lunch so will bear that in mind next time)

B12 is on low side. You need folate tested next time. They work together

Do NOT supplement any vitamin K if you take any blood thinning medication including aspirin

The Tired Thyroid book by Barbara Lougheed will teach you a lot about the role of thyroid hormones. It also debunks a lot of the misinformation you'll find online.
