Gluten Free Books: Have you read any books about... - Thyroid UK
Gluten Free Books
Do you mean cook books? If so (I love cook books and collect them so have far to many!) If yes the best cook book I have found is the Women's Weekly Delicious Gluten Free-Food.
For gluten-free information the best place is Coeliac UK and their directory/app is brilliant.
I meant books with information about gluten and being gluten free. I am not much one for cookery books as I have loads and find I don't use them. If I am looking for a recipe I tend to look online.
Can you still get info from Coeliac UK if you are not a coeliac? My blood test came back negative but I decided to cut gluten as I felt I had an intolerance to it and I have hypothyroidism and I have read that the two are linked
Hi My son is at present undergoing tests for coeliac disease and so I have been reading up as much as I can about Gluten and its affects on the body.
A really good, highly informative book I am currently reading is called Gluten Free by Dr Alessio Fasano he is a senior clinician at Massachusetts Gen Hosp. USA, and a pioneer in coeliac and Gluten sensitivity disorders. This book gives a really comprehensive insight into problems associated with gluten and the effects it can have on the body. It has easily accessible information presented in a readable way.
I have a couple of cookery books by Phil Vickery and they are really good but I think you said you don't need cookery books.
Hope that helps.
Thank you 😊
You are very welcome, I forgot to mention that you can join coeliac Uk even if you are not diagnosed as a coeliac, I think it is about £ 20 per year to be a member and you get a whole lot of information about what foods contain gluten and what don't. I have the forms but am waiting to get a definitive diagnosis for my son before we go ahead as it asks if/ when you were diagnosed coeliac. It doesn't say you have to be a diagnosed coeliac to join.
If you are a student the joining cost come down to about £12 per year.
I shall join even if my son is not diagnosed coeliac because we feel that he has serious issues with gluten and as Coeliac Uk is a charity which supports anyone with gluten issues. A GP friend of mine speaks very highly of the information they provide.
Good luck with your gluten free journey!
A very good comprahensive to recommend: Tom O'bryen " The Autoimmune Fix" 😊
You can get some free gluten-free books, including cookbooks, in Kindle format on the Amazon website. If you don't have a Kindle then you could download a free Kindle app for the gadgets you use :
amazon.co.uk/kindle-dbs/fd/kcp
I'm not suggesting they will be wonderful. Free rarely means good. But at least you won't have wasted any money!
There are also quite a few gluten-free books for the kindle which are under £1.
