Alternative thyroid medication

Does anyone have any experience with Swanson Thyroid Glandular or Natural Sources Raw Thyroid?

I have felt rubbish on Thyroxine for years. Had all the usual vitamins tested and bloods ok so I asked my GP about trying an alternative to Thyroxine. She referred me to an endo because she wasn’t allowed to prescribe anything else.

Endo basically said they don’t recommend NDT and T3 wasn’t allowed by our local PCT (but I could get it privately which I can’t afford). Then wanted to reduce my Thyroxine because my TSH was low (even though GP said T4 and T3 are nicely mid range).

I am looking into other affordable supplements to help. I was thinking down the Selenium and Tyrosine line but then I saw the above and wondered if they would be sort a try.

Has anyone tried them? Do you still take Thyroxine too?

Grincho you say it’s not difficult to get NDT, I thought you had to have a prescription? Surely Swansons Thyroid Glandular and Natural sources raw thyroid aren’t the same as NDT?

I do not understand that at all. There is no UK prescription-quality desiccated thyroid from the UK so what do you mean by "UK NDT"?. We do not certainly know the ingredients of Thyroid S but it certainly appears that it has at least some differences to every other desiccated thyroid product.
