Hi I think I have symptons of ibs iam very scared to go to doctors as do not want a colonoscopy can they tell by ultra sound scan can anyone throw any light on this please

Hi, I had a virtual colonoscopy - which is a CT scan so it can be done.

Hi, there is nothing to fear with a colonoscopy, I've had three. Totally painless, but you can also ask for sedation if you feel the need (although they won't allow you to drive home if you do). The advantage over scans is they can see any changes such as colour, find the smallest polyps, remove and do biopsies. But anyway, go to your doctor to get checked over, and then take it from there. They might not even want you to have one, so don't worry prematurely.

I haven't got IBS myself but my partner has but I have signed up to an online seminar which starts of the 3rd Sept for 5 days so if you keep in touch perhaps I could help later on. From a suggestion on this site he started taking Biokult tablets last year and this had helped him too.
