Hi all, I've recently moved to a town built over an old gold mine and I'm wondering if gold or other elements associated with mining can have adverse affects on the throid?
I have Hashi-Moto's decease and am experiencing problems with my feet now.

My guess is that the main issues would be:
Water supply - where does it come from and what does the water contain?
If much of your food is grown very locally, the soil could have an effect.
And, if there is a large amount of spoil, it is possible that wind picks up dust.
Trouble is, your post doesn't make it clear if it is a tiny "old timer" adit or something more like Grasberg:

Gold is extraordinarily unreactive so less likely, by far, to be a problem in itself.
Thank you for your help. This is a large historical goldmine area but if gold itself doesn't have adverse effects on the thyroid it must be something else and my water filter is outdated so the water could be a big part of it. Trouble is it's about an hours drive to get a replacement filter but I think I will need to go get one.
