Hi it worked for me for a while but it hasn’t the last 2 years that well I’d look at other alternatives
I’m going to try something new soon a NDT instead
What dose did you start on and what did you eventually end up on?
Hi I started on 1x 150 mg a day but then had wierd blood test that read as very low tsh 0.01 and high T3 at 8.7 so I dropped dose to 4 x a week and within a month my Tsh read 28 so then I started on 1x 150 mg a day again and then in a month I was o.5 tsh and T3 was 7 so I reduced to 6x a week and after few months again I was hypo with high Tsh level of 9 so have been on 1.5 capsule of 150 mg a day but it’s costing me £37 a month which includes posting from US and taxes they add on at checkout as I’m in UK it’s very expensive I think
If you read reviews on their Facebook recently it shows several people have had strange results with bad batches !!
But since joining this forum I’ve now learnt more about hashimotos and so I’m now requesting an antibodies test to be done and I’m also not going to risk using it anymore instead trying a new NDT I’ve ordered.
It is working for me. I need to do a blood test to check my levels but I do it on how it 'feels" right for me. I do not take very much but I had no energy before. Now I feel much, much better. Been taking it since the start of the year.
I am so pleased that I found it through the help of the people on this forum. It is a life saver!🙂
When you say that it isn’t agreeing with you, in what way? I’ve only just started on levo but then I’m only on 25mg at the mo and expect that to be increased in due course. I’m just curious at what type of side effects people have with it.
Be careful with ThyroGold! Here's my experience: I was on 100mg levothyroxine last year and for years felt like something was not right. Was desperate to try a NDT but GP said she was not allowed to prescribe T3 or NDT so after much research I tried ThyroGold for its great reviews. Started low at 150mg tablet/day and felt really good for about one month. During that time all my muscle weakness and joint pain disappeared but still struggled with energy so I waited 2 weeks before upping the dose by double. After 3 months I was taking 600mg/day but was really starting to feel DREADFUL with extreme headaches, stomache aches, total fatigue, started having problems swallowing and felt a tightness and swelling in my neck. Asked GP for a blood test, came back with TSH over 50 mlU/L (.27 -4.2) and very low T3 and T4. Wrote ThyroGold and told them about my situation and if they could offer an explanation of what was happening to me. Got nothing. Alarmed at how bad I was feeling and the results, I looked for and found a GP specialising in thyroid issues and started tests to switch to another NDT. By then my results were: TSH 64.2 mlU/L (0.27-4.2), free T3 1.99 pmol/L (3.1-6.8) and free T4 4.490 pmol/L (12-22). Thyroglob antibodies 150.000 klU/L (under 115) and thyro perioxidase antibod at 98.5 klU/L. My last full thyroid test about a year before that (with a functional practitioner) showed normal for all of the above so by now I was really worried.
I have now been on Armour for 3 months and recently upped to 2 grains my values have significantly improved -- I feel good now, finally, and my exhaustion headaches, swelling, swallowing issues all gone. I don't know what happened but my thyroid GP said it was as if the meds I had been on had nothing whatsoever. ThyroGold must've had a lot of bad batches because I used different bottles ordered at different times with different strength and since that first month my condition just went downhill quickly....What my gripe is that after writing them and nicely explaining my situation and asking for some kind of well, anything, they did nothing and if others were complaining about bad values too then they behaved even more irresponsibly. As I understand now, the amount of T4 and T3 etc can vary btwn batches. I'm glad ThyroGold works for others but if you go ahead with it, watch your blood values and if you can, work with a GP who gets thyroid issues-- I found one who does phone/email appointments and this has been invaluable to me. Stay well and safe
I’ve been on it for two weeks when I run out of my NDT and new bottle hasn’t arrived yet and it was the worst I felt for a long time!

I think your answer could possibly lie with those antibody results.
As there is nothing in your profile and you have no posts other than this one on the forum, did you know that those antibody results are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease aka Hashimoto's, which is where the immune system attacks and gradually destroys the thyroid?
When the attack happens, the dying cells release a lot of thyroid hormone into the blood and this can cause TSH to become suppressed and Free T4 and Free T3 to be very high or over range. These are called 'Hashi's flares' or 'swings'. You may get symptoms of being overmedicated (hyper type symptoms) to go along with these results that look as though you are overmedicated. The hyper swings are temporary, and eventually things go back to normal. Test results settle back down and hypo symptoms may return and after each attach you become more hypothyroid as more of your thyroid gland is destroyed. The attacks are random and there is no saying how long each period of "hyper" or hypo or stability will last.
It could very well be that there was nothing wrong with the ThyroGold but you were experiencing a period of severe hypothyroidism due to your Hashi's.
Thanks Seaside Susie, yes, I have Hashi's that was diagnosed 6 years ago from high antibodies/out of range TSH and T4. My antibodies have been monitored with functional health practitioner and were on higher side at one point then came down to optimal after I went on a long paleo type diet. Your Q made me think -- are you saying that extremely high TSH and very low T4 and T3 plus high antibodies can be a Hashi flare? I must admit it was silly of me not to have done a full thyroid test just before I switched to ThyroGold, but it seems too much like coincidence that I felt so much worse on ThyroGold then so much better as soon as I switched to NDT Armour? I have lots to learn about the mechanics of Hashi's and am very grateful for your/this forum's thoughts! I am going to read up about Hashi flares now!

With Hashi's you can swing from hypo to hyper to hypo. If you've had an immune attack and lots of hormone was released into your bloodstream, once that was over more of your thyroid would have been destroyed and it's possible that it plunged you into a very hypothyroid state. Not saying this is what happened, I don't know, but it's something to consider.
I've not used ThyroGold and I don't know how many members do, it doesn't come up very often, and I don't remember seeing anything about bad batches, etc.
