T3 only but high TSH and low T4 ?

Hi all ,

I started T3 only regimen few months back and feel better than have done in some time though few niggling hypo and hyper symptoms remain ( I have Hashimoto’s ) .

Been on T4 only , Armour , Erfa , Thyroid- S , Naturethroid and laterally Thyroid Gold . Was displaying symptoms of high reverse T3 while back , started on T3 , and felt great albeit , dry skin , very very dry and brittle hair , which is thinning still , however I thought being on T3 only ( 50mcg ) would surpress the TSH not increase it ( was over 5 ! ) , was expecting low T4 but not high TSH ???

Was diagnosed in 2009 eventually after 8yrs .

Should I increase the T3 ( even though over 50mcg makes me feel hyper ) or introduce some T4 ??

I take all the recommended Hashi’s vitamins and minerals and follow a gluten/sugar free diet mostly . Help !!

If you have a high TSH you're on an insufficient dose of T3. Do you take it once daily with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eatig?

You are not taking T4 (levothyroxine) therefore your T4 will be low. You can increase a 1/4 tablet of T3 every two weeks until you are symptom-free. You should also take pulse/temp several times a day whilst increasing as sometimes we can feel qute hot but find temp hasn't risen at all. If you have 'hyper' symptoms reduce dose.
