No, don't stop supplementing.
The Vit D Council, the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health all recommend a level of 100-150nmol/L.
I try to keep mine around the 150nmol/L mark, I checked recently and it had gone down to 106 which explained the bone pain I was getting in my leg. I've increased my dose of D3 and the bone pain has now gone.
How much D3 are you taking?
Is it a softgel, tablet, oral spray? Do you have Hashi's (sorry not looked back at previous posts).
Are you taking D3's important cofactors, in particular Magnesium which helps the body use the D3, and Vit K2-MK7 which directs calcium to bones and teeth and away from soft tissues and arteries - D3 aids absorption of calcium from food.
Hi susie i take Fultium-D3 800unit capsules one a day , when i got my results back 3 weeks ago i cut down to one every other day , the pain in my back returned. I was wondering if i need to stop them. I am a little confused about it all simpley because i dont want to over dose on vit d .. I have graves had RAI 18 months ago , you have helped me many times xx My diet is not great i suffer with Ibs and most foods seem to disagree with me (oh joy) I am still trying to get levels correct although doc says they are
tsh .033 02- 5
t4 17 9 -19
t3 3 .4 2.06 - 5
any advise would be great xx

You wont overdose on D3 until you reach 150nmol/L.
800iu is barely a maintenance dose for most people with a decent level to start with, to try and raise your level with that dose will take a long time.
With your current level of 69nmol/L to reach 100-150nmol/L, this is what the Vit D Council recommends vitamindcouncil.org/i-teste...
[as their measurement is ng/ml, we have to divide the nmol/L result by 2.5]
Your 69nmol/L = 27ng/ml
Look at My level is between 20-30 ng/ml and you will see to reach
40ng/ml (100nmol) you need 2,000iu daily
50ng/ml (125nmol) you need 3,700iu daily
60ng/m (150nmol) you need 5,800iu daily
So you can see you are not going to get anywhere near overdosing at the moment.
The pain in your back most likely returned because you reduced your dose of D3, similar to my leg pain improved when I raised my dose of D3.

Your thyroid levels - TSH and FT4 - are fine but your FT3 is too low. Presumably this is on Levo only? Conversion appears to be an issue so are you taking selenium as that helps conversion and what about
Ferritin
B12
Folate
Do you have any current levels for those? They all need to be optimal and ferritin especially has to be 70 for conversion, preferably half way through range.
thank you Susie great help as always .. yes i have a t3 problem nothing i do seems to help my vit b12 came back as 457 which again i am told is normal folate 3,6 which they say is normal, they have not tested ferritin .. what is selenium Susie
Wendy
Selenium is a mineral which can help with conversion of T3, it also helps Hashi's patients as it can help reduce antibodies. If you want to try a selenium supplement then the best form is selenium l-selenomethionine and no more than 200mcg daily. Stay away from the selenite and selenate versions, they are not absorbed very well.
Are you doing anything about your B12 and Folate? Is there a range for your folate as it looks very low?
You can get your own supplements, you wont get anything off your GP because as long as results are within range they think everything is fine, they're not taught nutrition so don't know the importance of optimal levels.
You can ask for ferritin to be tested, or you can do all these tests yourself with Medichecks or Blue Horizon, most are done by fingeprick.
thank you, Susie, for your help. do you think I should supplement b12? I will try Selenium ., Folate ranges are 3.00 - 20 so you are right mine is low , I don't know what to take to help it go up ? you have helped me so much thank you xxx
Wendy
With your level of B12 I would supplement with sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges 1000mcg daily.
When taking B12 we need a B Complex to balance all the B Vitamins. If you buy one with 400mcg methylfolate, that will help raise your low folate level. I raised my bottom of range folate to top of range in 2.5 months by taking 1 capsule of Thorne Basic B daily. Another decent B Complex is Igennus Super B and you would need 2 tablets daily to give 400mcg methylfolate.
