Circadian T3 Method (CT3M)

My RT3 is very high above range and wondering if CT3M is the best method to use to aid my adrenals whilst taking T3 meds

RT3 *50 (10-24)

Free t3 4.65 (3.10-6.80)

Free T4 *24.10 (12.00-22.00)

On 50mcg Levothyroxine which I’ve now reduced to 25mcg daily. Yesterday I added 6.25mcg to the mix but not sure if I should do T3 only and knockout the Levo!?!

A few years ago I was on T3 only as then my RT3 has shot up. My adrenals suffered whilst on T3 and aware this could happen again. Last saliva test showed low morning,/daytime and high nighttime cortisol levels.

Tempted to follow Circadian T3 Method. Welcome advice from anyone who’s done this.

I don't know anything about the circadian T3 method, but when my rT3 was high (not as high as yours) and my FT4 over range (29 with range of 12-22) with mid-range FT3, I reduced Levo 25mcg and added 6.25mcg T3, and continued doing that and eventually I got my levels where they need to be. Took a while and a lot of tweaking until I found the right combination of Levo/T3.

As you've already had adrenal problems when on T3 only, maybe go the reduced Levo plus T3 route this time and see how you go, whilst addressing the adrenals.

Thank you SeasideSusie, I needed that insightful guidance.

I’ll stick with this levo/T3 combo for 6-8 weeks and see how I feel. My temperature is a bit low but consistent.. so that’s a plus.

Fingers crossed :)

SeasideSusie, as an afterthought, did you take both levo and T3 at the same time?

I’m take Levo 25mcg on waking and 6.25mcg T3 late afternoon.

I started with Levo plus T3 first thing in the morning. When I increased Levo I added a second dose in the afternoon. Soon got fed up of trying to fit afternoon coffee and biscuit or evening meal around the second dose, so started taking it all in the morning.

What I do now is take my Levo in the early hours when I need the loo, somewhere between 3am and 6am usually, and my T3 in one dose probably around 7am. Some people need to split the dose, some don't.

Thank you SeasideSusie....I’ll try taking them together when I wake up.

I’m more tempted to eventually do a T3 increase than a levo increase if I do make a change. Depending on how this combo goes I think my next step woukd be 25mcg levo and 12.5mcg T3 but I’ll wait the full 6 weeks for these current doses to sink in before making another :)

I don't know why

but for me this combination goes wrong, when I took together (levo and T3) my ft4 droped down and hipo symptoms are increased. Now I want to do different, take the levo dose(125mcg) at night and T3 (12,5) first in the morning. Let's see if the situation improves.

I have never had low FT4 so I think a drop in levo should be ok for me. It’s the amount of T3 meds i add to the mix that I need to watch.

I have thought about taking my levo at night, it might work better for me...I don’t want to make too many changes at once but will definitely try it when I’ve been on this combo for a while.

Good luck.
